BEVERLEY FREDERICK GROFF

April 26, 1940 - November 6, 2024

After a long struggle with Parkinson's and other health problems, Bev passed away at the Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg on November 6,2024.

Bev is survived by his wife Yvonne; and two sons, Derald (Barb) and Rick (Dodi); granddaughter Amy; grandsons, Devin and Riley; great grandchildren, Connor and Hannah; and one brother Stan (Sheila).

Bev was born on the family farm near Theodore, Saskatchewan to Helen and John Groff. They moved closer to Springside, Saskatchewan so Bev could finish high school there. He attended the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario for a short time but home called him back to Springside. He started construction work for Borger Bros. from Winnipeg. He worked in many small towns in Saskatchewan and Manitoba installing water and sewer lines.

Bev met his wife Yvonne in Pilot Mound, Manitoba. They lived in Winnipeg for a short time then moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba in 1966 where he began his career with The City of Flin Flon.

As a young man Bev played baseball and later became involved in his favourite sport of all curling. He spent many years putting curling ice in, hanging out in the snake pit, winning lots of bonspiels and being on the executive at the Ross Lake Curling Club.

Bev and Yvonne raised their two sons Derald & Rick in Flin Flon. The family enjoyed camping and fishing during the summers and travelled to Springside and Pilot Mound for the holidays with their families. Once the boys were grown and left the nest Bev and Yvonne moved to Bakers Narrows in 1990 to enjoy lake life and gardening.

Bev retired from the City of Flin Flon with almost 30 years of service in 1997. After retiring Bev and Yvonne spent more than 20 years wintering in Arizona. In 2002, Bev and Yvonne left the Flin Flon area and moved to Eriksdale, Manitoba.

As Bev's Parkinson’s progressed, his mobility became limited and in 2020 they moved from Eriksdale to LaSalle, Manitoba to be closer to family. ln December 2023 Bev went to live at Vista Park Lodge Personal Care Home in Winnipeg.

A celebration of Life for Beverley Groff will be held at a later date.
