CAMILLE MADELINE GUENETTE

March 13, 1940 - January 6, 2023

On the evening of January 6th, after a difficult year of health issues, Camille passed peacefully at the hospital, surrounded by family. She is survived by her daughter Wanda and partner Mariana, her son Jeremy and wife Amy and her grandchildren Alice and Gisèle.

Camille worked hard raising Wanda and Jeremy as a single mother, always making sure they had the things they needed and keeping them active in various sports and activities. A passionate lover of animals, she had many cats over the years and her beloved Norwegian Elkhound dogs. She was thrilled to spoil her two granddaughters and was filled with happiness each time she saw them.

Thank you to the staff at the Grace hospital for all their kindness and support. Camille will be missed but has hopefully found peace. There will be a service held at Gordon King Memorial Church in Elmwood on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at 1:30pm.

If people so wish, donations in her name can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Dear Wanda and Jeremy and Family, My deepest sympathy to you with the passing of your Mother. Camille was a unique, resilient woman, ahead of society. As a childhood friend and neighbour from Norwood, together we benefitted from wonderful social supports from church, community and neighbours. Camille's family were particularly kind to me including me in family activities. I enjoyed hours spent with Camille practicing jiving, turning cartwheels, skating and many other activities. She was athletic and a grade A student. While all the Norwood girls dispersed after high school, we remained connected through group reunions and visits over coffee when I returned to visit Winnipeg. Camille was so proud of you and her grandchildren and always spoke highly of your achievements. I know her work with the U of M Faculty of Medicine was important to her and much appreciated by the Faculty, too. I will miss her beautiful smile and cheerful laugh. May your memories comfort you and bring you smiles, too. With appreciation for a wonderful friend, Geraldine Prouten

From the Mehra family to the Jeremy and Wanda(and their families.) Our deepest condolences for your loss, truly, a lovely woman. We have warm memories of her frequenting our restaurants with her family in tow, supporting us while celebrating important milestones, and everyday visits. Always warm, with a smile that radiated the restaurant. Her affection and joie de vivre was reflected in her family's faces and we appreciated every encounter. She will be marked missed, but often remembered in thoughts and discussion around our tables and we're sure so many more. Mme. Guenette, Merci pour votre amitié et gentillesse, tu vas nous manquer. - The Mehras

My condolences to Camille's family.  I have fond memories of working with Camille in the Department of Community Health Sciences, College of Medicine, at the University of Manitoba. Camille was a very friendly and conscientious staff member. She was very instrumental to the success of many graduate students.  If she didn't immediately know the answer to the numerous questions the students had, especially the completion of countless forms, she found it!  She was a wonderful co-worker.  Kathleen Bell

My deepest sympathies to Wanda Guenette who I haven't seen in years. I remember meeting your mother once in the 1980's. Wanda, I haven't seen you since we bumped into each other in Montreal. Hope, you are doing well, I just moved back into the province from Quebec. Repose en paix, Madame Guenette.
