HELEN IRENE GUENTHER
May 31, 1929 - November 28, 2025
With heavy hearts and endless love we share that Helen Irene Guenther slipped into heaven on November 28, 2025, with family by her side. Dad kissed the love of his life goodbye. Mom was by Dad’s side for 64 years, through sickness and health; they were a love story from beginning to end.
Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband Hank; son Richard Mooney (Carol); daughters Cheryl Porte (Gene), Debbie Clement (Shayne), Donna Klopak (Phil), Linda Edwards (Tom) and daughter-in-law Pamela Mooney; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; along with family members and friends.
Mom loved spending time visiting with her family and friends. To know Mom was to appreciate her talents and passions. She loved to bake her famous cinnamon buns and apple pies and share them with everyone. When Mom found someone in need, she knew what to do. She baked and cooked for them all of her favourite foods. Mom also loved watching the Winnipeg Jets, shopping, making crafts, gardening, playing bingo, going to the casino and travelling in their RV. However, she found her greatest joy in being a Nanny, a great-Nanny and a great-great Nanny. Mom leaves behind a legacy of love.
Mom worked hard alongside Dad and was a dedicated and caring homemaker. Her kitchen was always open and everyone was welcome to drop in for a sweet or a bite to eat.
Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home. Their care for Mom was excellent and they especially comforted us through our difficult journey these past few months.
At Mom’s request, cremation has taken place. A private service will take place at a later date.
If friends and family so desire, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
Wife, Mom, Nanny, Great-Nanny
and Great-Great Nanny,
you will live in our hearts forever. ♥
Helen’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

I grew up with the guenther family since I was 2 I spent many hours over at their home , Helen was like a second mother to me I remember her making perogies and saurerkraut buns, eating tomato soup at their kitchen table. she was there to cheer on all her girls at ringette games, she was a strong loving beautiful woman and anyone who met her was touched by her presence ❤️ you will be deeply missed !

One of my favourite things about Nanmy was that she made the most delicious sandwhiches.... bread, ham, mayo and about a pound of butter. I always say, I am a sauce person because of my Nan.
I loved watching her with my kids, she was always trying to be part of the action and never let age hold her back.

I have so many memories of Nanny coming to all my baseball and hockey games, she was the ne of my biggest cheerleaders. In the more recent years, I loved taking me kids to see her. She would always light up like a Christmas tree when she saw us.
