TONY (HENRYK) GULBINSKI

June 2, 1957 – November 21,2021

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Tony with his family by his side on November 21, 2021 at the age of 64.

He is survived by wife of 43 years Colleen; children, Shannon Oliver (Terry), Jordan (Kylie Crystoval), and Melinda Kenny (Julian); grandchildren, Madyson, Kaden, Shelby, Alyssa, Callie, Ryan, and Bradley; siblings, Mary, Terry, and Anita; father-in-law Gerald Schoeneweis; and numerous relatives. He was predeceased by his son Christopher, and other family members.

Tony was an amazing Husband, Father and Papa. He was born in Thunder Bay, and he moved to Winnipeg as a teenager, where he met the love of his life Colleen at a party in 1976 hosted by her brothers. It was love at first sight, they enjoyed 45 amazing years 43 of which they were married. They spent those years building a beautiful life, with their four children and enjoyed every minute to the fullest with road trips, family vacations, and unforgettable parties.

He was the most generous man, and the door was always open. To all the kids in the neighbourhood that came around he was known as Dad. Tony was the life of the party, showing off all his dance moves and bartending skills. He cherished the time he spent with all kids that ventured into the Gulbinski home and enjoyed the countless band practices and parties. He was always happy and usually the one who instigated all of the shenanigans.

He had a long time passion for music, as he played the drums and guitar (especially with his late son’s Band) where he became one of the boys. He loved to teach to his sons and grandson, passing on the love of music.

Tony was an amazing papa to his grandkids, his famous “papa nuu nuus” will always be the kid’s favourite.  He was always there to lend a hand, when it came to pickups or drop offs of the grandkids and always made sure he had sweets for them to enjoy, especially gum.

He was constantly tinkering and fixing things no matter what the problem was he was determined to fix it. Tony took pleasure in planning out all the trips to the states and the cruises with Colleen, sharing the sweet moments on the sea, along with all the new friendships and experiences that will always be treasured.

Although most of his life was full of wonderful moments, he faced many medical challenges, and never backed down and always persevered with a smile. No matter what Tony faced, he was a dedicated caregiver who was loved by all. Life will never be the same without him.

Tony you were an inspiration, a hero, a pleasure, and so uniquely wonderful. We will always love you, never forget you, and always treasure every single moment we shared with you in your amazing journey through life. Until we see you again. We love you Old Man, Dad, Pops, Papa, and Hun.

A graveside service will be held at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue at 2:30 PM Thursday, December 2, 2021. Those in attendance should park their vehicles inside the entrance, near the cemetery office, to gather for the procession into the cemetery.

Tony’s family kindly requests that his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos and/or sharing your own memories and stories using the comment section on this page.

Hi Colleen, I am most saddened to learn the passing of your beloved husband, Tony. Tony and I used to work at the International Inn Hollow Mug as bartenders in 1979.  We had a lot of fun working together. I still remember we attended a Halloween party hosted by one of our colleagues, you and Tony were dressed up as Cheerleaders! Tony was really a wonderful person and I really miss him so much! May he Rest In Peace. Please take care, Colleen. Peter Choy

As a teacher of his children, we all strive to make a difference in each and every sole that we encounter and plant seeds to make each and everyone a better person. Tony made a difference in everyone he touched with his caring nature, kind heart and willingness to always be there when you needed a hand. He was a friendly neighbour always willing to help me out when I  needed a hand. I had the opportunity and privilege to teach his children and truly understood how his family were so caring and loving. A true reflection of Tony and Collen's nurturing. I will miss Tony's positive outlook in life and know that his loving and caring words of encouragement will live on forever. His obituary and video were inspiring and a true testament to Tony and his family. I feel honored to be a part of his life. Our deepest condolences to all the family.

As a neighbour of Tony for 18 years I can say that he was a rarity - one of the kindest, friendliest, interesting and funniest guy you could meet. 😍😍His character and spirit will be missed. Much love to the family.

We remember Tony telling us how he fixed a timing belt in a car right where it broke down. His mechanical skills were unprecedented.

I remember Tony picking up Colleen after school in his suped-up car. Colleen offered me a ride home. Tony drove fast in those days, I never got home quicker! ❤
