Was born December 9th, 1975, in Hawksbury Ontario to Theodore and Wanda Gunderson. The family moved to Winnipeg when James was quite young. Years quickly passed and in 1996 at the age of 19, James met and fell in love with his life partner Melanie Giesen.
James and Melanie went on to have beautiful children, Dylan, Natasha, Julie-Ann, Tyler, Martin, and finally (King) Arthor. James became a grandfather and absolutely adored his Grandson Treyvon aka "Mr. Dimples".
He was pre deceased by his father Theodore Julian Gunderson, whom he was named after; and his Mother Wanda Marlene née Balser née Gunderson née Yakel. He is deeply mourned by his sister Alanna; and her children, Devon, Kendra, Daniel, and Dawsyn; brother Matthew (Carly); adopted sister Carri (George); his beloved dog Tigga; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless family and friends who loved him.
James took pride in his work and passed his experiences down to all his children. His children were his life and legacy and was proud of each and everyone of them.
James lost his battle with cancer on June 30th, 2024, at Riverview Health Centre and will be laid to rest on July 12th, 2024, at Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg.
We as a family would like to thank the countless Dr's and Nurses at HSC as well as the staff at Riverview that gave James the care he needed.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Pastor John at Riverwood Church for the compassion and care he has for the family.
We would also like to put out a special appreciation to the team at Ethical Death Care for the care and consideration to the family at this difficult time.

such a beautiful tribute!!
i remember when Ted & Wanda would come out to the farm. It was so funny when Alana and Jamie would get out of the car they would run across the yard to Grampa Norman's huge garden.
I remmeber him asking my Dad, Grampa how come there is so much vegetables in your garden.
my Dad said, I didn't want to see you go back to the city hungry, so we planted lots to eat.
Of course we had to show him and Alana how to sneek a few potatoes out of the hill with a spoon! (never loose that spoon). And Matthew was a wee baby and Jamie would always bring him the smallest potato just in case he got hungry.!!
Also to spend the night in the camper. was a blast! I think there were three per bed! More the merrier.
James may you rest in peace and have no more pain. Please say hi to everyone in heaven!
You may have left us here but knowing you are watching over everyone gives us comfort.
lots of love

James was a very good friend for over 20 years, he will be greatly missed. Very nice tribute video for him. Gone but will never be forgotten. He was always there when I needed someone to talk to no matter what. Thank you James for always being there and never judging me. Love you my brother.
