CORY IAN QUINCY HADDOCK

July 4, 1990 - October 5, 2021

It is with broken hearts that we announce the tragic passing of our dear Cory at the age of 31 years old.

He was predeceased by his Grandpa, Jackson Beardy; his Pepere, Rene Haddock; and his best friend Lee.

Cory leaves behind to mourn, his mom, Tammy Haddock; dad, Jason Beardy; his Memere, Lucia Haddock;  Granny, Paula Beardy; sons, Caleb and Lucas; siblings, Crystal, Quincy, Sheldon and Tianna;  his Burb; little sisters, Precious and Karma; Aunties,  Tracy (Marc) and Sandy (Terry); cousins, Kinew, Dyami, Raymie, Kacia and Fayth; as well as extended family, friends and co-workers.

He grew up in BC and Manitoba and had a fun, lighthearted approach to life. When he was a baby he would go visit Memere and Pepere’s and when he got home mom would find Pepere’s TV remote in his sleeper!

He and Crystal spent many summers at Memere and Pepere’s cabin on Lake Manitoba. Pulling her and his cousins around the yard in a wagon behind the riding lawn mover, and driving the motorbike, from this he learned firsthand what it meant to be “Clotheslined”. Cory always added much excitement and fun.

One summer in his teens, he spent the whole summer reminding us, “I like food”, that and MEH were forever etched in our memories. He loved his mom’s spaghetti so much that he once brought Desi over and insisted she watch exactly how his mom made it.

If you knew adult Cory, you would not associate him with wearing a tiara, however anything to bring joy to his little sisters, there he was walking around as a “princess” for a day.

Cory always had a humble, gentle spirit and got along easily with anyone he encountered.

He was hardworking and had much pride in showing off the many roofs he constructed. He was so very confident in his skills in roofing, an old fashion phone call would often land him a job.

Working out was a favorite outlet for Cory and he took pride in that focus as well. He walked many a miles in his lifetime and loved to be outdoors and could often be found sitting around a bonfire enjoying a few drinks.

Cory loved his independence and could be found anywhere East to West, yet would find his way to loved ones, he would always come “home”.

From the day he first found out he was going to be a dad his heart desire was to approached fatherhood with Arms Wide Open. He wished nothing but the very best for his boys and was so proud of them!

Tributes:

Cory was our gift from what I call the higher power. Since he was a baby I had loved his smiles and his willingness to be strong, able and willing to learn. What he gave me through the years was nothing but astounding. Our relationship was always a thing of beauty, honour, and above all... Friendship. I have a big piece of my heart for my boy and will forever be with my spirit.

- I love you my son, Dad

Cory was the most amazing person in the world…..he was the best son, brother, father and friend. He was so wonderful with his little sisters growing up. He could always make me laugh with the funny things he would say and do. As a young boy, whenever I would buy him new shoes he would say, “Mom, look it makes me run faster!” My first born, he was loved by everyone and really like to make people smile. I will always love you my baby boy!

- Mom

Cory was a kind gentle soul. He enjoyed spending time with his sister Crystal Quincy and Sheldon. It is a great loss to them to lose an elder brother. He was helpful and undemanding and a pleasure to be around. It is a reminder to all of us, to be kind and understanding of those who have to live with the great burden of mental health and addiction, and where we can, to give empathy and encouragement to all those souls who are affected and to educate families and friends of this terrible epidemic.

- Granny

Cory was always kind and soft spoken. Once as a young boy he asked me in all seriousness, “Memere, were the dinosaurs here when you were a little girl?” It was a pleasure having Cory and Crystal spend the summers at our cottage when they were young. I was blessed to have him stay with us for 2 years up until a year ago. He would randomly bring me a coffee and we would have little chats about the bible. His favorite scripture in the bible was Isaiah 65:21 “They will build houses and live in them…. They will not build for someone else to inhabit.” Given his work in building it makes sense that he would be drawn to the simplicity of that scripture.

- Memere

Cory was a brother to me; a rolemodel growing up. I have so many fond memories of my youth and they were all thanks to him. Thanks for everything man... Peace.

I remember spending summer days swimming in our pool with Cory and crystal. We’d have best cannon ball splash competitions and who could decipher what was said under the water the fastest. Loved spending time with them.

Oh my boy, this doesn’t even seem real. It’s hard to think that you will never be coming home again. You were a huge blessing to everyone who had the gift of knowing you. I will never forget the day we became family and started our journey together, we were blessed to have a blended family that loved each other equally. I am so proud to have been your other mother my boy. Each and every one of us have amazing memories and stories of our times together, from the day of me coming home to you sitting on my roof eating plums to the Christmas Day that you graciously sported the tiara for Precious. I treasure the memories of the time you spent living here with me and the girls before you went on your cross country adventure. I will forever be waiting for you to come home and walk through the door. I love you my dude, till we meet again. Love forever and always, love your Burb ❤️
