JEFFREY HADFIELD
January 15, 1942 – May 25, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Jeffrey Hadfield of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Jeffrey was born on January 15, 1942, in Chesterfield, England to his parents, Cyril Hadfield and Mary Alice Hadfield (née Garton)
Jeffrey married the love of his life, Margaret Kirwan, on February 26, 1965. Together, Jeffrey and Margaret built a life centered around love, laughter, and family. Their home was always filled with warmth, and nothing brought Jeffrey greater happiness than being surrounded by those he loved most. In 1968, they emigrated to Canada to begin a new chapter and create a life for their growing family. Together they raised five children: Nicola Ross (Robert) of Katy, Texas; Richard Hadfield (Karen) of Edmonton, Alberta; Shona Farmer (David) of Cochrane, Alberta; Alison Merritt (Paul) of Mitchell, Manitoba; and Robert Hadfield (Michelle) of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He also held a special place in his heart for Jocelyn Bailey Bann, affectionately known as “Frosty Face,” who was like another daughter to him.
Jeffrey was a proud and devoted grandfather to Robbie, Holly (Jeremiah), Jordyn (Tim), Ethan (Ryen), Gabby, Grayson, Kole, Adrianna (James), Ashley, Abby (Peter), Kate (Nathan), Drew (Hayley), Alex, Liam, and Aiden; and a cherished great-grandfather to Aubree, Averie, Addie, and Theo. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the joy of his life, and he treasured every visit, conversation, and celebration shared with them.
Jeffrey is survived by his brothers and sister, Derek Hadfield, Les Hadfield, and Lucille Smith. Sisters and brothers in law, Pat Slatter, Tommy Kirwan (Pauline), Paul Kirwan (Debbie), Sheila McGovern (John), Helen Barker (David), Claire Broom (Peter); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; his older brother George; sisters-in-law Pat, June, and Elizabeth; brothers-in-law Keith and Ian, who was also a dear friend; and his in-laws James and Josephine Kirwan.
Jeff enjoyed fishing and gardening and took great pride in keeping his lawn just right. He loved home improvement projects and spent countless hours researching and building his family tree. Jeff faithfully served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was known for his quiet strength, dedication to his family, and caring nature. Whether sharing stories, lending a helping hand, or simply enjoying time together, Jeffrey made the people around him feel loved and valued.
Above all else, family was everything to Jeffrey. The love he gave so freely and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of his forever family always. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives he touched.
The family would like to thank the ambulance service and the staff at Health Sciences Centre of Winnipeg for their care and kindness.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 45 Dalhousie Drive Winnipeg, Manitoba.

I was just going through some old photos and reminiscing about my time in Thompson. the Hadfeilds, Hinds, Turnbulls and Sulavans treated me like family. I have fond memories of this time of my life. I had a chance to visit Jeff and Maggie in Winnipeg a few years back and will cherish that visit. Thoughts and prayers to you all.

Deeply saddened by the news of Jeff's passing. He has been a father figure to me ever since I met him, along with Maggi who is also a mother figure to me. Both have been a blessing and made a profound impact on my life. I will always remember Jeff's warm smiles and eyes, great hugs, and stories with Erich reminiscing about their younger days as my home teachers. I am so grateful for these lasting memories and relationships that are eternal.

I can't think of too many memories that didn't involve the Hadfeild family. Christmas dinners , vacations togrther. I will always remember when we went to Winnipeg for Stake Conference and we had a little free time so we went to the zoo. Uncle jeff was making faces at the llamas trying to make them spit and they didn't so he stopped and as soon as Sandi walked up to have a look at them they spit all over her face . Uncle Jeff was on the ground laughing so hard. That is what I will remember most . His laugh. especially when he and my dad were up to no good .

Jeff, always so kind and gentle to me, I spent happy times as a sad child with your guidance and missed you dreadfully when you moved across to Canada, but I will hold close to the memories, being driven places in your wee Mini ! And the Enid Blyton stories you read to me in your rocking chair gave me my love of reading. Your children were surely Blessed with their daddy. Rest easy now and with everlasting Peace, with love,
Sister in law, Helen

I cannot express how sorry I am , to all the Hadfield family for their great loss. Jeff was an amazing human. I have wonderful childhood memories of spending time with him and Maggie. He was special, so kind warm and loving. I tagged along with his family everywhere, they treated me like their daughter. I was friends and next door neighbour to their daughter Nicola. He affectionately nicknamed me " Frosty face" ..Jeff lived his life through Christian love. He was a great role model , teacher and all around great guy. He will be greatly missed! I know he is with God now. I know we will see him again.
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.

Dearest Auntie Margaret and Family. We stand with you and behind you at this time of great loss and mourning. To you and your children and extended families, our condolences. May the love you shared with Jeff and with one another sustain you at this sad time. May Jeff be welcomed into the family of his eternal reward.
The Irish Blessing:
In true Irish fashion "May the road rise to meet you" , a Irish Traditional Piece. The lyrics, share a special message and ends with " ....and until we meet again, may you keep safe, in the loving arms of G " in the loving arms of whom you believe in ( or own interpretation)
Love is eternal love goes on forever eternity.
From Auntie Josie's side, Gaskin/Kenny Wickow side and Hearne/Russell side Wexford and Dublin

Dear Maggi & family
Jeff was one the kindest people I've ever known. His compassion and caring nature was always evident in every conversation. He always knew just what to say. I could listen to him speak and always wanted to hear more. The world is a little less brighter without Jeff. I'm thinking of you Maggi. ❤️

Jeff was such a kind and positive force for good. I always marveled at his beautiful gardens and his fun and competitive spirit at the Rook tournaments. The world has really lost a little of its light with the loss of this gentle, strong, loving spirit. You will be missed, dear friend.
