MITCHELL DAVID HAGANS

November 14, 1989 - March 24, 2022

With sadness we announce Mitchell David Hagans passed away on March 24, 2022.

Mitch is survived by his father Michael; sister Amber (Shane); brother Matthew (Sarah); and nephew Sean. He was predeceased by his mother Daphne; and sister Jamie.

Mitchell was born November 14, 1989, in Winnipeg Manitoba, at the Grace Hospital and was the fourth child of Mike and Daphne. He was the pinkest baby, when he was delivered to this world, out of all four of our kids.

Mitchell came into life looking for adventure. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved camping any time he could, from Ontario to the Rocky Mountains he travelled. Many days and weekends were spent at Royal Lake at our friends Mark’s cabin. Fishing trips with his brother back in the day with Mitchell pulling on Matthew’s line just to get his goat and jump start him in the morning. Growing up he was in a competitive swim team for many years, with his sister Amber and brother Matt, together they made the Flying Tigers a strong swim team. In school he played full contact football with the St. James Rods. It was very enjoyable as a family to go to Mitchell’s competitions and see him grow.

Mitch was a hard-working man starting a career off in Brown & Rutherford’s lumberyard the oldest lumberyard in Winnipeg to working with Gardewine North and numerous roofing and construction companies. You could always see Mitchell raise the morale on the worksite with people making them laugh in the morning before they started their day. Mitch never put his hammer down and always worked hard.

He was a man who love to cook and have people around the table, numerous Christmas dinners were spent at his house with family and friends with Mitchell doing all the cooking and enjoying what he was doing. He was an entertainer, a joker and a midnight toker, with Mitchell’s high morale you’re always guaranteed to smile when you talked with him.

Faith is being sure of what we hope for, and certain of we what we do not see. May you be at peace with your mother Daphne and your sister Jamie you will be missed by all your family and many friends. God bless you, my son.

A celebration of Mitch's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 603 Wellington Crescent (Unitarian Church) at Academy Road. For those who are unable to attend, a recording of the service will be posted here early next week.

Mitch's family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

Beautiful video - love seeing Mitchell throughout his life. The cutest little kid I ever met  - always a smile and twinkle in his eye! I remember going to the 1998 Grey Cup game with him, I brought a bag of Halloween candy and before the first Quarter was finished-so was the candy!!!! I will always remember the great times we had with Mitchell at our cottage - he loved it there, even when we put him to work moving furniture or cutting wood. He will live on in our hearts and memories. Love and Big Hugs to Mike, Matt and Amber ❤️❤️❤️

My dear Cuz  The last four months after reconnecting with you has truly helped us form a bond that will always stay with me! Jord and I sit here trying to find the words to say good bye, but we can’t! We want to smile and remember the laughs at Christmas, from the hard core game of crokinole where Jord hated to lose, to yelling at you two bone heads at 2am while you battle at football. Cooking up a storm making the best prime rib and The fireworks on New Years to hitting your ass on the stove and melting the air fryer! One thing remained consistent and that was you never stopped smiling! Our daily talks, me stocking you to make sure you were ok, the endless “I’m good cuz I love yau” I would give anything to hear one more time! But today we say so long my sweet cuz, because I know one day we will meet again and have more laughs and a big bear hug from you! I love ya like crazy, be at peace and remember I always got your back!

It has been a long time since I saw you. Great warm memories of you as a younger fella playing with my kids. Those bright eyes and beautiful smile is what I remember the most. Enjoyed your tribute everyone paid to you. It shows that you were very loved and such a great guy that many people will miss. Give your Mom a big hug for me and take care of her ok.  Peace.
