WENDY KATHLEEN HAGUE

(née THOMSON)

March 26, 1954 - August 26, 2022

Wendy passed away August 26, 2022. She is survived by her husband Ab; her sons, Adam (Sarah) and Jesse (Elizabeth); her four precious little grandboys, Owen, Oliver, Thomson, and Baker; her sister Barbara; and her niece Tyler (Matthew, grandnieces Esmay and Theodora).

Wendy was so proud of her family and all they accomplished. She was their number one fan, supporter, and protector.

Wendy was a “giver”. She was so generous with her love for her family and her friends and always had time to support those many important people who were close to her. She created the best dinners, the best birthdays, the best Christmases, the best “coming home” visits for her family.

Ab and Wendy had fabulous trips around the world as a couple as well as with their “travel group” of friends. Wendy’s comedic recounting of those trips had all rolling their eyes and laughing. Her “getaways” with her girlfriends and “girl family” were truly memorable. She was the leader of the “shoppers” pack.

Wendy was just “cool”. She was on top of every new trend whether it was good restaurants, new home designs, or new food directions. She loved the challenge of creating new experiences for friends, family, or dinner group. Her home reflected her exquisite taste and everyone liked to gather there with her and Ab.

Wendy started her professional career in 1976 at what was then The Society for Children with Disabilities, and then moved on to Family Services of Winnipeg, the Daycare office with the provincial government, and lastly to Great West Life. She developed many warm and lasting friendships at work over the years.

Wendy will be lovingly remembered by so many. Sadly, her health over the past two years robbed her of those new opportunities and adventures she had been looking forward to. Even when she was so unwell, she made others a priority.

The family would like to thank Dr. M. Guaranda for always being available to Wendy.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday September 16, 2-4pm at The Winnipeg Art Gallery (300 Memorial Boulevard, Winnipeg).

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice.

Our heartfelt condolences to Ab, Adam , Jesse and family on the loss of the beautiful person that Wendy was. We have fond memories of her as a wonderful neighbour when we lived on Queenston Street.  Most sincerely, Charlotte and Gordon Walkty

What a shock to learn of Wendy's passing. I have such fond memories of us during our years at U of M in Family Studies/Home Ec. We were guests at each others weddings and even moved into the same condo complex, Apple Meadows. Wendy was so full of fun and eager to experience life fully. I still smile at the memory of Wendy and Ab trudging over to our place during a winter storm so we could conjure up a meal and enjoy the "snow in" together. My husband even assisted Ab in coaching youth hockey. As our careers and families expanded we unfortunately lost touch. Our heartfelt condolences to Ab, their children and grandchildren for the loss of such a warm, loving woman.

So sad and shocked to see Wendy has left this world.  Like many others, I met Wendy at Great-West Life.  I started to get people calling me asking me about family services.  Our names were next to each other in the directory so I  made a point to introduce myself to her so we could trade stories of each other phone calls or messages!  Such a warm, loving, easy to talk to person.  A real treasure in the medical rooms along with Bernice and Iris.  A great resource once our children arrived.  The world has lost a wonderful person, but heaven is all the better for her presence.  Sincere sympathies to her family.

Wendy and I got to know each other well at GWL.  We had a shared love of critters, especially dogs, and would regale each other with all the crazy stories from our animal adventures.  We also shared a great love for interior design and she provided me with many wonderful ideas over the years.  She was my River Heights buddy…she and Abby on Queenston St and me on Renfrew.   She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. Her family was her everything.  We spent many hours on her front porch with non-stop talk and her being the hostess with the mostest even when it was not necessary.  She will be so missed. My heartfelt condolences.

Heartfelt thoughts to Wendy's family & friends. She will be so missed. Had the pleasure to meet her at GWL.  She was a sunbeam that oozed kindness and caring with fun and was so proud of her boys, including Ab too! May the wonderful memories you have of her bring you comfort at this sad time. Our world was just not big enough for Wendy as she has soared up above to spread her kindness there.

My condolences to Wendy’s family, friends, and colleagues. I remember Wendy from her time at Great-West Life in the medical services office. She was always kind, friendly, and welcoming to me when I had questions as a new mom. Her background in family services was a great support in those early years and her help was truly appreciated.
