MARY JOAN HAMILTON

Mary Joan Hamilton passed away on April 21, 2021 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, after a long battle with dementia.

Mary was born on April 6, 1935 to Daisy and Gersham Hamilton, in Highgate, in the Parish of Saint Mary, Jamaica. She left Jamaica in 1972 and moved to Canada in search of a better life for her and her children. Through her perseverance and determination she was able to accomplish her dream. Mary worked at the Vancouver General Hospital, in Vancouver, British Columbia, as a unit clerk, until her retirement.

As head of the family, Mary was a dedicated, strong and independent mother, raising seven children. Her love and strength have been the guiding principles throughout her children's lives.

Mary was predeceased by her siblings, May and Connie. She is survived by her siblings, Chappy, Buck, Cutie, Valerie and Netty; children, Patrick, Shirley, Teddy, Chris, Nadine, Wendy, and Stacy;  grandchildren, Mark, Mike, Mitch, Marlon, Nikolis, Christina, Raymond, Emmanuel, Kemi, John, and Nina; great-grandchildren, Khalil, Jacob, Mya, Olivia, and Vanessa. Mary will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Cremation has taken place and due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, no services will be held at this time. For now, Mary's family kindly requests that her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above.
