Jake Harder

JAKE LARRY HARDER
May 28, 1952- April 26, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Jake Larry Harder on April 26, 2026, surrounded by his three children.
What can we say about our Dad?
He had an incredibly strong work ethic spending over 50 years as a carpenter before continuing on as a maintenance man in his “retirement” years. He loved Red Lobster, cottage cheese perogies, and apple fritters. He enjoyed traveling, especially to warmer climates. He had an inappropriate sense of humour, was a die-hard fan of the Winnipeg Jets and Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and often had the brightest smile in the room.
Jake was a selfless, hardworking, devoted family man, always willing to help those in need.
He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Janet; his son Jeffrey/Jeff (Amanda), daughter Jennifer/Jenny (Freddy), and son Steven; his grandchildren Nolan and Brooklyn, whom he adored very much; and siblings, Sharan (Maurice), Elmer (Jackie) , Ed (Vi), Karen (Dennis), and many other cherished family and friends.
Jake was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Helen Harder; his brothers Peter and Harry; his sister-in-law, Mary Ann; his best friend, Hart; his brother-in-law, Larry; and his niece, Cheryl.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff of Bethesda, Concordia, and St Boniface Hospitals for taking such good care of our “Grumpy Gus” over the past few years, especially last month, where he spent his last days.
Dad always said he didn’t want a funeral - he wanted people to visit him while he was alive - so we will be respecting his wishes. Instead, we will be heading to Red Lobster on what would have been his 74th birthday for one last celebration in his honour.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jake’s name to Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue, or charity of your choice.
