MINNIE (HERMENA MARTHA) HARRISON

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Minnie Harrison at age 95.

She leaves to mourn in her passing her children, Gloria (Geza), Richard, and Linda (Gerry); grandchildren, Deanna (Jonas), Samantha (Cam), Geza Jr. (Jessica), Ryan (Ashley) Kristen (Jeremy), and Tahea (Trish); great-grandchildren, Andrena, Cadence, Chloe, Evie, Eliot, Ryder, Easton, Andrea, Julianna, Logan, Kayla, Arya, and Rylea; her special sister Esther; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Norman (1996); son Raymond (2014); daughter Jackie (2018); sisters, Emily, Emma, and Mary; brothers, Raymond, Lorenz, and Alexander; brothers-in-law, Amol, Fred, Henry, and Don; Sister-in-law Sonja; parents Jacob and Elizabeth Rudolph; and many other family members and friends dear to her heart.

Minnie was born and raised in Saskatchewan on a farm in QApple Valley. The area is now referred to as Rudolph’s Ravine. She had so many wonderful stories to tell of that life. It was kind of like a Little House on the Prairie setting; not lots of money, but a tremendous amount of love. After school, Minnie decided to hit the big city of Winnipeg where she met the love of her life Norman. Together they had five children. She was a homemaker until the children were grown, then started a career in the food industry working in cafeterias for Ritz foods until the age of 70. After retirement she spent a lot of time at the Weston Brookland legion playing Bingo and enjoying company of good friends. She always looked forward to family gatherings, birthdays, Christmas, Easter and occasional BBQ’s. Her favourite pass-times were crocheting and mostly crossword puzzles which she said always keeps the mind sharp. Country music was always her favorite and we remember it was a lot of Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Buck Owens etc. in our house.  She overcame many challenges in her life, a strong willed, feisty, loving person who will be missed by many.

We love you to the moon and back Mom Rest in Peace.

Due to COVID a private family service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road (Unitarian Church), followed by burial at Brookside Cemetery. The family asks that those attending wear masks. A recording of the service will be available to watch on this page for those who aren’t able to attend.
