JUDITH (JUDY) LINDA HARTZ

April 28, 1946 - November 1, 2021

It is with profound sorrow we announce the passing of Judy Hartz (Quiring)! Judy passed away at the Riverview Health Centre, palliative Care wing early Monday morning, November 1, 2021.

Jude was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, April 28, 1946 to Jacob and Ana Quiring. She attended Princess Alexandra School and graduated from Saskatoon Technical Collegiate in Saskatoon.

Judy worked most of her life as a legal assistant, retiring in January 2015 from the Law Firm of Chapman, Goddard, Kagan, in Winnipeg.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ken Hartz, who she met November 12, 1966, and married October 12, 1968.

Her pride and joy was her son, Andrew (Drew) Hartz, who was born May 18, 1985. Drew married Crystal Whitehead in September 2011. She couldn’t have been prouder of Drew’s choice, her new daughter!

Judy is survived by four sisters, Ann Trites (Chuck), Helen Doyle, Louise Illingworth, and Jean Minichiello (Sam); one brother, David Quiring (Marj); her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Keith and Doris Hartz and Ron and Sandy Sutherland; as well as 16 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Jake and Abe Quiring and four nieces and nephews.

Over the years Judy made many great friends with her school mates, co-workers, her Kinsmen and Kinette family and her Toastmasters family. Judy’s quiet, subtle whit, awesome sense of humour and her easy-going kind nature will be missed by all!

Cremation has taken place and three celebrations (of life) are planned when Covid restrictions ease; one in Winnipeg, one in Saskatoon and one in Kelowna, B. C.

I would like to thank the staff at the Movement Disorder clinic (Parkinson’s Society) and the staff at Riverview Health Centre palliative care.

Jude, you are loved!

I didn't know Judy for long or all that well.  We met at PBS Toastmasters.  What I do remember was a quiet spoken woman with an absolutely marvelous quick wit and sense of humour.  If I hadn't had to leave PBS for health reasons, I would have liked to get to know her better. I realized instinctively she would have been a wonderful friend.  My condolences to the family.  Liz Rogers

Judy was a lovely person. Her smile lit up the room, she was soft spoken but had great stories to tell, and a wonderful sense of humour. She loved her family to bits, and was a very gentle soul. My sincere condolences for your loss.

Judy always had this small smirk on her face like you knew she was up to something kind. I loved sitting next to her at Toastmasters meetings. She had a gregarious sense of humor and loved helping out at the events we held as a group. My heartfelt condolences to you Ken and family.
