TYLER CRAIG HASELL

December 27, 1978 – April 10, 2025

Tyler Craig Hasell passed away in Swan River, Manitoba on April 10, 2025. His life was full of chapters — each marked by his intentional love and care for his family, his work ethic, resilience, humour, and impactful presence. Other chapters included hardships and challenges, but neither the highs nor the lows can take away the mark Tyler left on the lives of those he loved.

Tyler was born in MSA Hospital in Matsqui, BC, to Craig and Brenda Hassell on December 27, 1978. At the time, they lived on a farm in Aldergrove. He grew up alongside his older brother, Jason, with many weekends spent at swimming lessons, dirt biking, and watching movies late into the night with their other step siblings and close friends. From an early age, it was clear that Tyler was full of energy and determination, and he carried a deep loyalty for those he loved.

Tyler loved fishing, swimming, snowboarding, cooking, playing cards — and had a way of making everyday moments memorable. Among the most defining and meaningful chapters of Tyler’s life was becoming a father to his three children — Samara, Damian, and Flynn. In February of 2009, Tyler met the love of his life, Erin. Tyler simply was not Tyler without her. The relationship they shared was incredibly special, and Erin’s presence in his life forever changed him in all of the best ways.

Tyler worked for Precision Drilling for 12 years, and anyone who knew him knew he was the guy to have on the job. He earned the nickname "Gizmo" during these years because he could do just about anyone’s job and would climb the Derrick to fix anything and everything.

In recent years, Tyler became a grandpa — a role he didn’t get the chance to fully step into, but one that brought him immense joy and pride, even if he wasn’t entirely thrilled about being called “Grandpa.” We all know he would have stepped into this role effortlessly, because loving his people came naturally to him, and his grandkids would have known, without a doubt, how fiercely proud he was to be theirs.

Tyler is survived by his partner, Erin Hodgson; his children, Samara Hohl (Griffen), Damian Hasell (Aurora), and Flynn Hassell; and his grandchildren, Kinsley Hohl, Kenna Hohl, and Lucas Bobick. He is also survived by his father and stepmother, Craig and Joan Hasell; his siblings, Jason Hasell, Dane Hasell (Melanie), Shea Hasell, Geoff Doran (Jennifer), Brad Doran (Elisa), Matt Doran, and Nicole Doran; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his mother, Brenda Matychuk.

Tyler will forever hold a

special place in each of our hearts.

We love you and miss you so much!

Tyler’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

So many memories Tyler, so much love.

Your potential was natural and immeasurable. I had endless wishes for you and your future.... always hopeful you would overcome those demons of yours. A piece of you stays with me just as a piece of me is gone now with you. Your children and grandchildren will forever be a part of me.
