ARTHUR HAWKINS

Arthur (Art) Hawkins, age 83, passed away in his sleep on Saturday November 25th at Victoria General Hospital.

Born on March 4, 1940 in Winnipeg he was the son of Osborne (Ozzie) and Margaret Hawkins. He grew up with 4 siblings, Allan, Terry, Linda, and Tom (deceased) in St. Vital. He attended Glenlawn Collegiate and went on to become an accountant joining his father’s firm and eventually working on his own before retiring.

In 1966 he married Joan and they were blessed with 2 sons and 5 grandchildren. Steve Hawkins and Marianne Cassels, Grandkids Loran, Alex, Arianna, Luke. Jeff Hawkins and grandson Matthew. There are many fond memories of family gatherings with extended family, visiting friends to play cards, and epic road trips. Joan predeceased Art in 2005 losing her battle with cancer.

Later in life he loved working at his church’s food bank where he made many great friends including Jan. Art and Jan were married in 2012 and loved to travel and visit family and friends. Jan expanded Art’s family to include Trevor, Trish, Dennis and grandson Ethan. Jan passed in 2022 after a short battle with cancer.

Art's smile and laughter will be missed and his curiosity about what the grandchildren were up to next.

A service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 5:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Road United Church, 613 St. Mary's Rd.
