LOUISE HENDRICKEN

Louise Hendricken was born in St. Anne Manitoba in 1935. 

She was survived by her children Lise, Vincent (Lucy), Theresa (Gordon Lawlor), Monique and Nancy (Robert Lecocq).  Her 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, her brother’s Isaie and Victor. She is predeceased by her companion Don Patry, (husband Eugene), her mother Maria, her father Philias, and her brothers and sisters George, Antoinette, Juliette, Angele, Marie-Ange, Denise, Jules, Noel, Marthe, Bernadette, Celine, Roger and her grandson Stephen.

Louise was the youngest girl in the family, which is probably where she developed her wit, spunk, competitive drive and loving nature.  She has shared many endearing stories about growing up on the farm with her siblings and her parents and their lives after that.   Her family and her Francophone heritage was very important to her. Her family always remained close even when she lived in Quebec and Ontario.  She overcame many obstacles in her life and was very kind, genuine and generous to those in need, even when she herself was in need.  Some of her work history includes as a homecare aid, a cook, kitchen manager and a diner owner. She always taught us to be honest and speak up for ourselves.  She was  very creative and talented in music, cooking, art, sports, games and crafts. She loved playing the organ and singing.

She always said that growing up with so many siblings was a lot of fun because they always had enough for two baseball teams. She participated in bowling and horseshoe leagues. She loved nature especially camping and fishing/ice fishing, which included exploring the United States by camper.

Later in her life her health challenges would limit her physical activities, but she remained very independent.

Family was always important to her.  She had a great love for all of her children, her siblings and their children and all of her friends who were family. She dearly enjoyed time spent with family.

She was affectionately called Tiny Gramma. She may have been tiny in stature, but in her lifetime she had a grand spirit and presence. She is known by many as a phenomenal woman.

She will be greatly missed and her spirit will be with us all.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM Wednesday, June 21, 2023 in the Sainte Anne Roman Catholic Church, 162 Central Avenue,  Ste. Anne, Manitoba,

We are thankful for and are very appreciative of all the kindness and care that she received from her home at the Claribel and Saul Simkin Center.
