SUSAN LEONE HERRING

(née Talarico)
Winnipeg, MB

February 5, 1951 - May 26, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Susan Leone Herring on Monday, May 26, 2025.

Susan is survived by her children, Shalon (Bryce), Taggart (Kate), Cassidy (Natashia), and Magwyer (Gerry); and her grandchildren, Ashton. Jaidyn, Jackson, Elijah, River, Nikolai, Freyja; as well as her sister Lisa (Tom); niece Kaylyn (Mike); nephew Devyn (Izza); and great nephews, Rhys and Maddox.

Susan is pre-deceased by her mother (Genevieve); her father (Tomaso); husband (James); and granddaughter (Winnie)

Susan was a beloved mom, gramon, sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin, swim mom, market mom and dear friend too many.

Susan was born in Winnipeg in 1951. She attended school at Daniel McIntrye where she was a part of the volleyball, basketball and track team, as well as the choir. She went on to pursue a degree from the University of Manitoba. During this time, she met many lifelong friends that were still by her side in the end.

A few years later Susan met the love of her life Jim and created a beautiful family together. Her and Jim along with their 4 children loved making memories by the pool which made her fall in love with swimming leading to many years on the pool deck.

Through Susan’s many careers from airlines, soil testing, to social work, she met many people that changed her life and became not only friends but family. After losing her husband, Susan moved to BC and started the next chapter of her life. From Peachland to Westbank, Susan made many more lifelong friends whom she travelled with, worked with and made lifelong memories with. Susan’s passion in BC was her love for produce. From her early years learning with her father at Talarico Fruits to spending the last 10 years of her life at Paynter’s Fruit Market. Susan became known as the “market mom”. As a family we are forever grateful for the love and support the market family gave her.

Thank you to BC Cancer Care and the Acute stroke unit at the HSC for their love and care during this difficult time.

Donations can be made to BC Cancer Care and/or the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation.

A Celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the Winnipeg Winter Club located at 200 River Ave.

Susan’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Susan would come in to town at Christmas time and would whip up the most incredible dainties for Christmas and was happy to share with everyon! I was happy to share red wine with her! I always looked forward to that with her, being sarcastic and making her laugh, watching the littles play... She was a beautiful woman with an incredible smile. Cheers to Susan!

Shalon, Cassidy, Taggart and Magwyer, I am so saddened to hear of your mother's passing. Your mother had a heart of gold. I loved our conversations while waiting for you to emerge from the change room after practice. She was one of a kind And will be missed.
