ALMA HESSE

August 11,1934 - November 17, 2019

With heavy hearts, we announce that Alma passed away on November 17 at the Health Science Centre, Winnipeg MB at the age of 85 years.

She is survived by her daughter Rita Law (Jeff Law); grandchildren Brigitte (Paul Reimer), Jennelle, Jenique (Chad Stevens) and Thomas; great grandchildren (Nolan, Thalia, Logan, and Jace); siblings Ellie and Irmgard.

Alma was born in 1934 in Germany. She grew up on a small mixed farm with 3 sisters, Ellie, Herta, and Irmgard. After the war Alma married Karl Heinz Hesse. They had one child together, Rita. Karl met with a tragic accident and was killed in a collision when Rita was 3 years old. Few years later Alma and Rita made the huge step and moved from Germany to Winnipeg Manitoba, something Alma’s husband had always wanted to do. Alma put her fantastic sewing skills to work and was able to land a job with The Canadian Garment Company in Winnipeg. She remained with the company for many years retiring in her 60’s.

Alma always had time for family and enjoyed playing ladder ball, looking at flower gardens, shopping for clothes, and TALKING ABOUT FASHION.

One of her great passions was cooking. Whenever you visited her home she always asked if you were hungry and had a bowl of her famous Egg Drop Soup at the ready as well as cake and coffee. Alma never shied away to venturing out on her own. She enjoyed taking bus trips with other seniors all over North America.

Friends and relatives are encouraged to share in a photo-tribute, eulogy, stories and condolences for the family by using the comments section of this page.

Alma was a very honest and positive person who always had a smile for everyone. The simple things in life are what she enjoyed most.

We hold you close within our hearts and cherish the memories of you. Mom you will be greatly missed!!

Dear Rita, I am sorry to hear the passing if your mother. I remember when she drove us to the beach in her convertible.  She was a devoted mother to you and grandmother to the girls. Your Friend,  Wendy (Liela Lind) Lindblad
