CLARENCE P. HILDEBRAND

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Clarence on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Stella; daughter Angela (Rob); grandchildren Chris and Shane (Taylor); sister Rosie and brother Gordon (Sharon); many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and attended every celebration and milestone his family members gathered for.

Clarence had a long career in the farming equipment industry working for Versatile and Co-op Implements.

Clarence was a member of Toastmasters, IOF and the PC Party in earlier years.

He was a gracious host to all visitors and was known to bring out the harmonica and accordion to entertain his numerous guests.

Clarence will be remembered by a multitude of recollections for his proficient abilities as a personal; tutor, mechanic, carpenter, plumber, electrician, engineer, driving instructor, chess player, puzzle solver, historian, statistician, accountant, politician, debator, inventor, chauffeur, guidance counsellor, master of ceremonies, tour guide, coach, cheerleader, musician, singer, comedian, Ukrainian Butterfly and Polka dancer... to name a few. He had so many talents and interests, except for cooking.

Dear Pops,

You defied the original prognosis from 20+ years ago that you'd only have another year to live. Your one goal was to see your grandchildren graduate. You achieved that and dealt with unimaginable pain in the process, never once did we hear you complain. Those blue eyes, that sense of humour, your kindness, courage and strength lives on. Please know how much you are loved and respected and how sorely you will be missed.

Love Icle

A private viewing and cremation have taken place. A memorial and interment will be held by the family at a later date.

Clarence's family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

Clarence I will always remember you as the generous man you were. I remember when we moved next door, I was setting up a soccer net for Matias. You came over and helped and had that net up in know time. Then you took some shots at the net and scored!!!! You were always willing to help from fixing my BBQ, cutting grass, changing tires, lending ladders and numerous other equipment and EVEN helping me find my cat...hehehe. You loved my rice pudding so I will continue to make it for Stella. I wish I had the chance to say goodbye and thank you. Hard to believe and accept that I won't see you next door. We miss you very much❤

Auntie Stella, Angela and Family, When I think about Uncle Clarence, I remember fondly his fast paced tours of Winnipeg.  We could cover a surprising amount of ground in a very short amount of time.  He had the lights downtown timed perfectly, knew just the story to tell to provide context and trivia as we whipped by historical landmarks.  He never forgot a detail. How lucky we were to have him.  My heart goes out to both of you and know that you are in my thoughts.
