CHERYL ANN MOORE HILDEBRAND

April 15, 1970 - December 26, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Cheryl Ann Moore on December 26, 2025.

She is dearly remembered by her husband, Jeff; daughter, Lola; parents, Gerard and Denise; sister, Kathleen; brother, Kevin; and countless other family and friends who truly loved her.

Cheryl was born in Winnipeg on April 15, 1970, and was the youngest out of three kids. She lived life in curiosity, always seeking the truth to anything that piqued her interest. Learning was her passion, and she wanted to share that with everyone she loved by telling them what she discovered. Her love, furthermore, extended to animals with her work at the Winnipeg Humane Society and donations for various charities that supported wildlife rehabilitation and conservation. She had much love for her own fur babies Gumball, Flapjack, and Mabel, whom she doted on daily. Her love extended to writing, which she practiced when attending the University of Winnipeg and Red River College Polytechnic for creative communications. She passed this love for writing onto her daughter, Lola, who is continuing her passion.

Cheryl continued on to her work at River East Transcona School Division, giving them her remarkable editing and linguistic skills for 21 years. She was truly a hard worker, pushing past many walls that confined her, giving her all; she achieved a lot in her short life.

Above all, Cheryl loved being a mother to her daughter, Lola; that was her favourite achievement of all. Two days before her passing, she spent the night surrounded by her family, eating food, playing games, laughing, and smiling. She was a bright light in so many people's lives, and it hurts to see that light go out.

She will forever be

missed and,

most importantly,

forever loved.

A small memorial will be held in the summertime at her residence along with family, friends and as many dogs as possible.

It's been really nice to see all the lovely memories people have with my mom. We really appreciate all the kind words and condolences. She would have been so moved and grateful to see how many people truly cherished her and loved her dearly. Her firecracker personality has been passed down to me, and I'm going to make sure it remains. Thank you all.

I have never met anyone like Cheryl, and I likely never will. I remember thinking I was a good writer when I started working with Cheryl, then she would go over my writing with her sharp point red pen and humble me to my core. Cheryl could spot an en dash from an em dash from a kilometre away. Nothing was final until Cheryl had a chance to make it perfect. Jeff, Lola, her love for you was fierce. I remember sitting with Cheryl talking about some celebrity news of a lavish vacation and her and I looking at each other laughing that that could have been us, but we married for love instead of riches. Lola, your mom spoke so highly of you, she was so damn proud of you for the young women that you have become. My sincere condolences to your family and friends. Cheryl will be missed.

I was lucky to meet Cheryl through her brother Kevin. Going way way back now to the 80's. I very much liked her whole family. It's been so many years . Kevin and I were good friends. Kevin and I went on a ski trip with Cheryl and some of of her friends. It was a fun trip full of laughter in this giant stationwagon.

I remember all of it.

Cheryl was a supportive friend who treated everyone equally, with respect and compassion. She was non-judgemental, never lowering herself to gossip or judgement of others because she always had more interesting things to talk about. She would never shy from saying and doing what is right, even if it went against the common opinion. She was the friend always willing to lend an ear, even in times when she could have used the ear more. Cheryl was my favorite person to have lunch dates with. We would share life up and downs, and debate. (She always won because she was extremely intelligent and fully educated on the topic every time.) She would not enter into a discussion unless she knew the full facts. We enjoyed time making fun of people who would say "I seen...” I had to proofread any text I would send because there was no way she would let a grammatical error get by. Cheryl was a kind introvert who held friends close, and I am honored that I was considered one. I have heard that Lola inherited Cheryl's best qualities. My condolences to Lola and Jeff.

It was incredibly saddening to hear of Cheryl’s passing.

Cheryl was a true original. Always quick to call out an injustice, voice an opinion or share a funny story. With a great sense of humour and a fantastic laugh. She was a true loyal friend. And I’m going to miss her dearly.

Jeff and Lola, my most sincere condolences to you and the other family members as well.

What a shock it is to learn of this news. I was friends with Cheryl during my college years and a number of years following – she was a firebrand, loud and bold – I was so envious of her energy. To Lola and Jeff, my deepest condolences.

I have fond memories of road trips with Cheryl to Regina, Grand Forks, Russell and Clear Lake in our younger (college) days. She was always so full of life and fearless - unless spiders were involved.

Our deepest sympathy to Jeff, Lola and family for your loss.

My deepest condolences to you both on the loss of Cheryl.

I had the privilege of working with her at The River East Transcona School Division over the past four-plus years and was grateful to have been able to collaborate with Cheryl on many occasions. Cheryl’s passion for standing up for others and doing what was right was something I deeply admired. She advocated for people in a way that not only made a difference, but also inspired those around her to do the same. Wishing you strength and comfort during this difficult time. Sending heartfelt love to you all.

This is incredibly sad. I haven't seen Cheryl since our college days, but in some ways it feels like yesterday. Cheryl was one of a kind. She was fiery and no-nonsense, she was also a good friend who always had your back. I remember Cheryl as a longtime animal lover. When we were in college she had two pet ferrets she cared for and loved dearly. To her family, I am so sorry for your loss. She is gone far to soon. My condolences.
