DONALD “DON” GORDON HODGSON

August 27, 1942 – April 29, 2024

Donald Gordon Hodgson, known affectionately as Don, departed from this world on April 29, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on August 27, 1942, in Hartney, Manitoba, to Raymond and Edith Hodgson, Don was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Growing up alongside his siblings, brother Maurice, and sisters Flora and Sandra, Don's childhood was filled with love, laughter, and adventure. On July 29, 1961, Don married the love of his life, Joan Neumann, in Waskada. Together, they raised their three children, Katherine, Jerry, and Carolyn, while working on their farm in Regent, Manitoba. In 2003, Don, Joan, and Carolyn moved to Brandon, where they continued to build a life filled with love, laughter, and joy.

An avid sportsman, Don had a passion for the great outdoors. Whether he was hunting, fishing, playing baseball, or curling, Don found solace and joy in nature's beauty. He shared his love for outdoor activities with his grandchildren, Jennifer, Chase, and Zack, teaching them the skills and values he held dear.

Don will be fondly remembered for his infectious smile, his warm heart, and his love for his family. He leaves behind his sisters, Flora (Ron) Westscott and Sandra (Dave) Reed; his beloved wife Joan; his children, Carolyn, Kathy (George), and Jerry (Carol); his grandchildren, Jennifer (Shawne), Chase (Kaley), and Zack; and his great-grandchildren, Crew, Gage, Ezra, and Hayes.

While Don may have departed from this world, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

In addition to his immediate family, Don leaves behind a wide circle of relatives, friends, and loved ones who will carry his memory with them always. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edith (2009) and Raymond (2007); and his brother Maurice (1996).

As we bid farewell to Don, let us remember the joy he brought into our lives and the love he shared with all who knew him. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was dearly loved and will be eternally remembered.

A celebration of Life will be held at the Brandon Legion on 560 13th Street on May 13 from 2:00-5:00pm.

Donations in Don's Memory can be made to Brandon Regional Health Center Foundation- Palliative care.

Don’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

It's been a lot of years since I first met my Brother-in-Lae, Don Hodgson. So many good times trough out the years, it's hard to decide what To comment on. It was when we first met Don that he had been invited to Camp Kissimmee, Florida! Talk about impressions! I'll leave it there. Through out the yeats we enjoyed so many good times with Don, Joan and Family for that we are truly Thankful.
