MARGARET FRANCES HOLYK

(née Makarchuk)

May 5, 1931 – November 24, 2025

It is with sorrow we announce the passing of Margaret Frances Holyk (née Makarchuk) after a long, courageous battle with dementia on Monday, November 24, 2025, at the age of 94, at the Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall.

Surviving her is her niece Valdene (Wayne); Becky, Rodney, and many great nieces and great nephews.

Margie was predeceased by her beloved husband Max; her mother and father, Annie and Stephan Makarchuk; her brother Tony; her sister Nettie; and nephew Brian.

Margie grew up and lived her life in Lac du Bonnet, first on the family farm with her parents and siblings, then with her husband Max. Later on in life she sold the farm and moved into the town of Lac du Bonnet.

Margie was a very strong woman with a big heart. She loved her little town and all the people in it. She also loved her flower and vegetable gardens and was very proud of her giant tomatoes and very strong garlic that she grew. She loved making perogies and had standing orders with many friends. She enjoyed bike rides around town, finding little treasures on the side of the road. She also enjoyed going 2-3 times a day for her walks.

Cremation has taken place and her wishes of a private burial will take place at a later date in the spring, where she will be reunited with her late husband Max.

The family would like to express our gratitude to the staff, nurses, and doctor at the Rosewood Lodge Personal Care Home in Stonewall for all their care and compassion of Aunty Margie.
