MARK LAWRENCE HOOEY

Mark Lawrence Hooey passed away peacefully on May 11, 2023, after a lengthy illness.

He will be dearly missed by all those who valued his commitment to family and his dry sense of humor. Mark was preceded in death by his sister Patricia, father Joseph, mother Alphild and brother-in law Bob. He is survived by his brothers Robert and Tom, his sister Barbara, sister-in-law Jackie (Rick), nieces Lyndsey, Michelle (Jeffrey), nephew Stephen (Maggi), great-nieces Madelyn, Frankie, Goldie, great-nephew Leo and special uncle and aunt Bob and Diane.

Mark spent his career working at Boeing Canada, where he retired after many years of dedicated service.

Mark enjoyed visiting the family cottage in Winnipeg Beach. It was a special place where he could relax and engage in friendly games of cribbage and bridge with loved ones. He also deeply valued the opportunity to go fishing and swimming at his sister's cabin in Beresford Lake.

One of Mark's greatest interests was his thirst for knowledge. He had a passion for history, the wars of the world, geography, and politics. He loved engaging in conversations and sharing his insights on these subjects.

Mark leaves behind a legacy of laughter, and a strong commitment to family. He will be remembered for his dry wit and his genuine affection for his loved ones.

Special thanks to the staff of Saul and Claribel Simkin Centre, Weinstein I, who provided excellent care to Mark during his illness.

According to Mark’s wishes there will be a private family gathering at a later date to celebrate his life.

What a lovely tribute to your brother, Barbara.  I think he would have been very happy with this send off.  May he now rest in peace.❤
