FREDERICK (FRED/RICK)
PETER HOOPER

September 24, 1946 - June 24, 2023

It is with a profound sense of loss that we announce the peaceful passing of Fred, following a short illness, on Saturday, June 24, with his wife and brother at his side.

Fred will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 22 years, Marilyn Corbitt, his brother, Mark (Charline) of Victoria, BC, daughter Eva, sons Richard (Amanda), and Brad, grandchildren Danielle, Brianna, Courtney, Sofia and great grandchildren Grace and Julianna.

Fred spent 26 years as an electrician with the Seven Oaks School Division and for several of those years, he also served as treasurer for the division union. In addition, he was proud of his many years as an active Lions Club member.

Fred was passionate about many things. He was the designated keeper of the family recipes. Even following his retirement, his love of cooking had him still taking orders from his division colleagues for Christmas baking, cabbage rolls and perogies. When it came to gardening, he generously provided vegetables to his neighbours. Whether playing with colleagues, friends or acquaintances, he appreciated a good card game. And of course, fishing, especially his trips to George Lake. At his retirement he celebrated with a special fishing trip and lodge stay in the Northwest Territories which he enjoyed tremendously.

Fred was an avid sports fan and having been born in Regina, when it came to football, he remained loyal to his roots, always cheering for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

An informal time of remembrance will be held at 4 Harvest Way, East St. Paul, on Sunday July 9, 2023, at 4pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

My condolences to Fred's family for their loss. I always enjoyed our many conversations when he came into LJ's Pantry. He was always happy and friendly and Eva and Rick were just like him and well behaved and polite kids. This world needs more people like Fred. Thinking of you. Larry Ober

I first met Fred at 7 Oaks School Division. In the years that I worked with him, I learned about his passion for cooking and baking, his trade as an electrician, enjoyment in playing cribbage, and playing Santa Claus for the students. Just the other day, I was looking at my bountiful crop of apples and wondering, how many pails to send over. I'm grateful to have met you, Fred. My condolences to Marilyn and your family. Rest in peace

Uncle Fred will be forever missed, but always remembered. He had a zest for life and always made the most of it.

Allen and I were so very sorry to hear of Fred's passing. Unfortunately we did not get to really know Fred very well, but anytime we saw him and talked with him, he was never without a smile on his face and such an infectious laugh.  I know you will all miss him but you have such wonderful memories to share.  Marilyn, I know how  your Mom and Greg thought so much of him and were so glad you two were two together ❤.  Take care all. See you on Sunday 😊
