EMILE JOSEPH ROGER HOUDE

May 7, 1939 – May 11, 2026

It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Emile Houde announces his passing on May 11, 2026, at the age of 87 years.

Emile grew up on a farm near Ste. Rose du Lac, MB.

On March 27, 1965 he married Joan Wyatt, and lived in Charleswood for several years. Their family grew as they welcomed their son Ethan in 1979.

Emile worked as a general labourer and equipment operator for Inland Cement in Winnipeg, then in Edmonton, where he retired after 30 years of service. They returned to Manitoba, settling in Pinawa, then subsequently the Lockport / Selkirk area.

He enjoyed tending to the garden, cooking, reading and woodworking.  His biggest passion was fishing. He took numerous fishing trips all over Manitoba, and fished the Red River near Selkirk.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 61 years Joan Houde (nee Wyatt); his son Ethan Houde of Vancouver, BC; his older brother Lucien Houde of Winnipeg; several brothers and sisters-in-law;,nieces and nephews; as well as his best friend and fishing partner Steve Taylor of Winnipeg.

Emile was predeceased by his parents, Narcisse Houde and Sylvia Houde (nee Hamelin); older sister Claudette Letain, and younger sister Diane Roy.

The family wishes to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Health Care Aids at Actionmarguerite, St. Boniface 5A for their professional and compassionate care for Emile.

As per Emile’s wishes, cremation has taken place, no formal funeral or celebration of life will be held.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Emile’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.
