Pat Hower

PATRICIA EILEEN HOWER
(née Rowson)
April 6, 1935 – February 13, 2026
Pat was born in Winnipeg to John and Eileen Rowson, younger sister of Sheila (Knightley). Pat passed peacefully at Riverview Health Centre following a brief illness, remaining sharp and independent right to the end.
Pat attended Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and in 1958 married Paul Hower. Pat was the mother of Marcia, Eileen, Rob (Pam) and Tim (Mary), grandmother to Caton, Kelsey, Seth, Liam, Kayla, Lindsey, Lauren, Matthew and Sam, and great-grandmother to Lily, Grayson and Luin.
Pat was pre-deceased by Paul, daughter Eileen, grandson Matthew and nephew Kevin Knightley. Following Paul’s passing, Pat met and spent many years of companionship with Tom Munro, developing caring relationships with his children, Joan, Neil and Linda (Chris).
In 1968 Pat and Paul built a cottage at Twin Lakes Beach and many weekends and summers were spent in the waves and on the beach. Pat was a keen sports enthusiast, rarely missing her children’s events and often found cheering on the Bombers, Jets and Blue Jays or watching curling or soccer on TV. Many lifelong friendships were made through sports and Crescentwood Community Centre, where Pat and Paul volunteered for years.
With Tom, Pat was able to travel to Scotland and made more good friendships through ANAVETS Rockwood Unit #303. There were shopping excursions to Grand Forks with Bob and Kathy Johnson, and even more weekends spent checking out garage sales.
Pat had a beautiful soprano singing voice and would raise the roof at home or harmonize with her mother during Christmas Mass at St. Ignatius. She also loved crosswords, puzzling, gardening, and knitting afghan blankets for everyone in the family. Pat had recently settled into a new apartment in the Boulton retirement community weeks before her diagnosis.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Yvonne Morier, who supported Pat with medical appointments over the past few years, and the staff of Riverview Health Centre for their compassionate care during Pat’s final days.
A mass and celebration of Pat’s life will be held at a future date.

Lovely tribute! She loved "the lake" ...whether it was twin beaches or Grindstone!

the amount of times that I met her she was a real nice person. Very classy lady. I will remember the time I went to Riverview to spent some time with it was nice. Her rumour that she didn't know how we were gonna talk since she didn't really know me but it went well for a half an hour.
in peace Mom Howard
