Leah Humby

LEAH ANN HUMBY
November 12, 1968 - November 20, 2025
With broken hearts, we share the passing of our beloved Leah, who left us on November 20th, 2025 at the age of 57, surrounded by the love of her family. Leah’s fight with cancer was short, but in those final days, she showed us what true strength and grace look like. Her unexpected illness was a reminder to cherish each moment we had with her, moments that we will hold close forever.
Leah affectionately known as Lee Lee, a name that captured her sweet, gentle spirit. She was kind, humble and selfless putting others before herself. Leah leaves behind her partner James; her sisters, Susan, Karen (Gennaro) and Heather (Mike); and her adored nieces and nephews, Jack, Emerson and Ashton. She was also loved deeply by her mother-in-law Mary; her stepchildren, Russel, Tyson and Christian; and her loving dog Izzy. She’s now reunited with her parents, Norman and Helen, who she missed dearly.
Leah’s passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of all those fortunate enough to have known her. She had an infectious laugh and a heart of gold. Leah leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and unforgettable memories.
Leah was born in Winnipeg and grew up in River Heights, where she attended Montrose School, River Heights Junior High, and Technical Vocational High School. She was an active kid, playing soccer, figure skating, and creating memories that would last a lifetime. Leah treasured summers at the family cabin in Lac Du Bonnet where she and her sisters, friends and Cousin Scott – her partner in crime—had more adventures than we can count. From boating and water skiing to dunking canoes and running from bears, adventures at driftwood bay, those summers formed a bond that lasted her whole life.
The Humby Hilton, as it came to be known, was always a place full of love and laughter, where family and friends came together to celebrate life’s little moments. Those childhood adventures, family trips, Sunday night dinners, Birthday celebrations and traditions are all part of the incredible person Leah became.
Leah’s adventurous spirit took her to Vancouver for a few years before she returned to Selkirk, MB to be closer to family. We were so happy to have her back home. Later, she and James made their life together in Winnipeg, where they enjoyed travelling to Las Vegas, especially taking in the zipline on Fremont Street, and taking in a Vegas show. But no matter how exciting her adventures were, Leah was happiest when she was home with those she loves.
For everyone you knew, you gave your best. Your generosity was striking and Leah had a way of making everyone feel special. We’ll miss her in ways we can’t even put into words and impossible to describe how much we loved her.
A bright light in our lives taken away far too soon, Leah will always have a place in our hearts.
We Love you, Lee Lee,
forever and always. ♥
A private interment will take place, with a Celebration of Life to follow early in the New Year, where we’ll gather to honor Leah’s beautiful life and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
If family and friends so desire, donations may be made to an animal shelter of your choice, or Cancer Care Manitoba.

Susan, Karen and Heather and families,
I am so very sorry to hear this Incredibly sad news of Leah's passing.
I know your hearts are broken.
Leah was always such a bright light.
Sweet,kind and always smiling.
I remember her talking to me from the sidewalk to my bedroom window In the summer evenings.
She and Heather. I was supposed to be going to sleep and got in trouble. I could never figure out why I couldn't stay out and play too!
My heart is with you all . It's a difficult time. Just remember how blessed you are to have been her sisters. Just look at the photos to see the joy your brought each other. Sending big hugs of love to each of you .

There are few words to describe how amazing Leah was. I selfishly wish we would have the opportunity to create more memories with her. She brought light to any room she walked in, especially with her contagious laugh. She made me feel so welcome even on the first occasion of meeting her, she listened and cared deeply for everyone around her. In her last weeks spent in a hospital bed, she never hesitated to share a smile, or turn down a foot massage. In these weeks she showed immense strength and courage, I wish there was more that could've been done for her. Gone too soon, will forever be missed. We love you Leah <3

The time we spent together as teenagers will be with me always. Leah absolutely loved me for who I was, not what others thought I should be. That made her very special. Our visits in Vancouver when I came to visit were always like old home week for her and I. I literally just told the story of her and I out on the lake by ourselves tipping the Invitational! She thought her Dad was gonna kill us both when they finally found us in the water holding onto the edge of that sail boat! Love you Leah. You were one very special person.
