Brian Humnisky

BRIAN ALLEN HUMNISKY
September 13, 1947 – September 19, 2025
It is with incredible sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Allen Humnisky at the age of 78 on September 19, 2025, at the St. Boniface Hospital.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Anelia; his parents, Alexander Humnisky and Gwen Michaels; his brothers, Bill and Leonard; and brother-in laws, Lorne and Murray. Left to cherish his memory are his stepchildren, Maureen (Robert) and Glendon; grandchildren, Sarah (Thomas) and Jason; and his siblings, Sylvia and Linda; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Brian was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1947. He graduated from Sisler High School and went on to join the Canadian Armed Forces in 1967 serving for 12 years as a Corporal and a medic. He was stationed in Germany for several years. After his service with the military, he worked as a Health Care Aid at Deer Lodge Hospital caring for veterans. After retirement, Brian volunteered for many different organizations.
Brian met his wife Anelia at a social event in 1985, and they went on to marry in March 1987. Anelia and Brian spent many winters in Arizona and traveled to many different places. His favorite places to visit were Las Vegas, Hawaii and the Dominican Republic. He also enjoyed many casino bus trips and shopping trips to Grand Forks and Fargo with his family and friends.
Summers Brian could be found at the cottage in Grand Marais, Manitoba, hosting many happy hours, family events and participating in bocce ball and crib tournaments. He was a true Winnipeg sports fan; he was so happy when the Winnipeg Jets returned and was a proud season ticket holder. Some of his favorite times were attending Winnipeg Blue Bomber games with his son in law Robert and friend Lino Correia. You could never bother him when the San Francisco 49’ers were playing on TV.
In his leisure time, Brian enjoyed golfing, watching Turner Classic movies, playing bingo and cards, making cabbage rolls and his famous homemade nuts and bolts.
Funny and kind, irreplaceable and unforgettable, we will miss him often and always.
A special thank you to The Wellington where Brian lived, he enjoyed the friendships he made and all the fun activities he participated in over the last 20 months.
Donations can be made to Deer Lodge Centre Foundation in lieu of flowers.
An interment will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue, followed by a small reception at 11:00am at Rae and Jerry’s restaurant at 1405 Portage Avenue.
Brian’s family kindly requests that all his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
