NOLA HUNTER

1957 - 2020

Our family is deeply saddened to share that Nola passed away October 9, 2020, peacefully and surrounded by those she loved most in the world.

Nola’s fight with cancer, after three battles and 11 years, has come to an end, and she was strong, brave, and inspiring throughout. She fought her battle with love — which will come as no surprise to anyone who was fortunate enough to know her.

Her family and friends will know that she lived a life full of love for those around her. They will also know that she was hardworking, selfless, stubborn and always available to those in need. She loved to tell the stories of the many, many moments full of laughter she shared with her friends and family over the years.

While we will miss her terribly and always, we are so proud and grateful to have been lucky enough to have Nola in our lives. We will remember her every day by continuing to share our cherished memories, favourite stories, and treasured “Nola-ism’s” that we will always pass on to those in need of some words of wisdom. Most importantly, we will all continue to be the big, brave dogs that Nola taught us to be.

A celebration of Nola’s life will be announced at a later date, when we are safely able to come together. In the meantime, Nola’s family encourages the sharing of photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

We love you Nola, rest peacefully.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre in celebration of Nola’s love of nature, a passion she has passed on to her children and shared with many friends.

I had the pleasure of working with Nola at CSP Foods in the 1980's. She was a remarkable young person filled with enthusiasm. We enjoyed many a laugh as we worked together. My deepest sympathy to her family.  Les Rankin

I’m still in disbelief. Since I heard of Nola’s passing, I keep reminiscing of our days back at CSP Foods. We had such a great work family ... not only at work, but outside of work as well. The fun nights of baseball and bowling. The great after baseball swimming and fun times at TC’s parents place. Going to each other’s homes. The awesome Christmas parties. Our first born girls born only a month apart. Sad how we ended up going our separate ways over time, but I will always cherish these wonderful memories❤️ Nola may be gone from this earth, but definitely never forgotten ... Rest In Peace Dear Nola🙏🏻

Bob, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Nola. I only met her a few times at company functions, but was always struck by how beautiful she was, inside and out. She was a fighter in every sense of the word. Chad and I send our deepest condolences to you and the kids.

To Bob and family, and Nola's two lovely sisters, I remember seeing Nola from time to time over the years at family gatherings.  She seemed like such a sweet and genuine person.  She had a friendly nature, and she always had a smile on her face. My thoughts are with you, and sincere sympathy go out to you at this sad time. Joan Curran

Dear family and friends, Nola and I worked alongside each other for many years. We became firm friends. She would buzz into my world with a ready laugh, a story, a helping hand and always her full attention.  Nola loved life, her Bob, her Megan Cam and Blair  and her friends.  It was extraordinary the way she faced her health adversity.  We all learned from her.  Nola was strong, proud, fun and loving. Egyptians say before you get to heaven you are asked two questions.  Was there joy in your life - and did you bring joy to others? Yes Nola there was and you certainly did. Gavin and Barbara Smith ❤
