FAYE IRENE IRWIN

(née RATHWELL)

May 5, 1950 – July 6, 2025

A Photo Biography Video is forthcoming.

Please check back soon.

After a long and courageous battle with diabetes, Faye passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 75, with loving family members at her bed side.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 49 years, Robert (Bob) and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Faye was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Frances Rathwell; and her sisters, Darlene Deren and Karen Schmidt.

Faye was born in Holland Manitoba on May the 5th, 1950 where she and her sisters enjoyed all the summer and winter activities small towns are famous for. It was here that she met her best friend Jeanette and the two remained “besties” to the very end.

In 1964 the family moved to Winnipeg and Faye made many new friends and eventually met Bob, her husband to be. Faye and Bob were married in 1976 and soon moved into a house in St Vital where Faye spent many happy hours making the house into a happy home.

The next move was to Southdale and a home with a nice big back yard and a swimming pool. This became Faye's happy place where many BBQ's were enjoyed with friends and family. She was also an avid gardener and loved the smell of a freshly cut lawn and a summer rain shower on a hot day. “It was good for the flowers and plants.”

Faye worked part time mostly and spent many years in care of her ailing mother until her mother's passing in 2007. Faye's last full time work was with the federal government (Department of Labour).

Faye was a devoted Jehovah's Witness and held a great love and respect for her creator.

A big thank you to all the staff at St. Boniface Hospital and in particular to the wonderful, caring staff at the 4th floor Dialysis Unit.

At Faye's request, a private family memorial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the charity of your choice.

Faye’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
