LILLIAN MAE ITO

Surrounded by family, Lillian Ito passed away peacefully on September 3, 2021 at St. Boniface Hospital.

She was predeceased by her mother, Irene Wilson; husband Uke; brothers Bob and Jim Wilson along with their spouses; as well as in-laws, Kay, Cookie, Klark, Kud, and Tosh.

Left to cherish her memories are children, Rick (Nancy), Jim (Shirley), and Lisa (Karl); grandchildren Lisa and Jesse; great grand-daughter Ara-Belle; sister Joanne Rego (Ronald “Buzz”); in-laws, Yosh (Chiz), Tillie Norris and Sue, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Mom spent the majority of her life owning and operating Wilson's Grill in Morris. She loved working in the public and still reminisced about all the people who worked there and all who came in for home cooked meals or coffee and the good times and all the laughter. After Dad's passing, Mom worked at Poppers Deli in the train station. She was also in her element there meeting the travellers on the trains as well as the people working in the building.

Mom bought many meals and coffees for people who needed a helping hand up. Someone once asked her why she did that. Her answer was, if one of her children were in need and she couldn't be there, she hoped a kind stranger would help her children.

As per Mom's wishes there will be no service.

If desired, please donate to a charity of your choice, as Mom always said there are so many in need.

To Rick, Jim and Lisa - So sorry to hear about Lillian passing... the summer I worked at Wilsons is still a vivid memory for me.  Lillian combined a "no nonsense" approach to work with patience, kindness, and an unforgettable sense of humour.  The world is lesser without her.

Dear Lisa, Jim and Rick, Wilson's Grill was a constant in our young lives and still gives texture to so many fond memories. Your parents made it look so easy. I'm sorry for your loss.

My memory goes back to 1974-79 when I was stationed with the RCMP in Morris. My favourite coffee spot was Wilson’s Grill where I got to know and love Uke, Lill and Mrs Wilson.  My condolences are extended to the family and many friends of Lillian.

Dear Jim,Lisa and Rick, We are so sorry to hear of you Mom’s passing. Lots of great message as Wilson’s Grill was my first job growing up in Morris. Lillian always had great stories and was on of the first to have the latest scoops in town.  Our deepest condolences.  Kim and Jo-Ann Lewis

As a kid I used to go to Wilson's Grill after school for a Pepsi and chips. Great memories. I also used to "play" with Rick as youngster and curl with Jim. Mrs. Ito was always a kind and friendly face. Deepest condolences.
