THOMAS EDWARD JEWER

February 10, 1943 – July 6, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of my beloved father, Thomas Edward Jewer, on July 6, 2026, at the age of 83.

Tom was born on February 10, 1943, in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, to Solomon and Annie Jewer. He spent his early years in Nova Scotia before marrying and moving to Winnipeg in 1964, where he built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work.

Throughout his working years, Tom was employed at Humpty Dumpty, Reimer's Limited, and the River East School Division. His very first job was at a laundromat in Sydney, Nova Scotia, where his strong work ethic began.

Tom had many passions. He loved fishing, camping, working on cars, and landscaping. Music was always close to his heart. A lifelong Christian, he attended The Salvation Army in both Nova Scotia and Winnipeg, where he played the cornet. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and accordion and loved to sing. His favorite hymn was How Great Thou Art, and he never tired of listening to Elvis Presley.

Life was not always easy for Tom, both in childhood and adulthood, but he faced life's challenges with perseverance, faith, and a wonderful sense of humor that stayed with him throughout his life. He had a special place in his heart for young people and was always happiest when he could encourage or spend time with them.

Tom was predeceased by his parents, Solomon and Annie Jewer, and his siblings: Violet, Lottie, Florence, Olive, Henry, Ernie, Jim, Saul, Lil, Rita, and Doris.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving daughter, Sherry; his sister, Rose; his grandson, Mathew; his treasured great-granddaughter, Olivia; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Tom spent his final years at Heritage Lodge, where he received compassionate care. Our family extends heartfelt thanks to Hershey, Alam, Janice, Maria, Jennifer, Carol, and the entire staff at Heritage Lodge. Your kindness, compassion, and the love you showed Dad meant more than words can express. Thank you for always going the extra mile to make his days brighter.

Although our hearts are heavy and he will be deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing that his suffering has ended and that he is now at peace in the loving presence of his Lord and Savior.

Until we meet again, Dad,

Your love, faith, music,

laughter, and strength

will remain in our hearts forever.

Uncle Tom was one of my favorites growing up as a young girl. He and my dad, Jim, were good buddies and I remember how handsome he was. They always loved music and playing instruments. They shared the same love of How Great Thou Art and Elvis. Two of a kind in their early years.Condolences to Sherry and family. One sibling left. Aunt Rose. I was lucky to live among most of them and spent time with them over the years. R.I.P.
