BARBARA JEAN JOHNSTON

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Barbara Jean Johnston (née Moore), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, at the age of 76, on November 2, 2024, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Barbara was born on May 4, 1948, in Selkirk, Manitoba, to Florence and John Moore. Throughout her life, Barbara wore many hats—she was a working mom, a single mother, a high school graduate, and, above all, a fiercely loving and caring person. She touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of crossing her path with her unwavering compassion, warmth, and kindness.

Barbara was the proud mother of three children: Leslie, James, and Perry. She was the devoted wife of the late Larry Johnston. She was also a loving sister to Bill, Jim, and Edith, and a cherished step-sister to Darlene and Cheryl. As an aunt, she was a guiding and supportive figure to many nieces and nephews, including Laura, Destiny, Royden, Louise, Debra, Jimmy, Linda, Kelly, Lori, Barry, Carolee, Camalee, and Ashlee. Barbara’s legacy lives on through her seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Barbara spent much of her life in various places, living in Selkirk, Winnipeg, Gimli, Brandon, and Lorette. She made her mark everywhere she went, leaving behind a trail of love, laughter, and lasting memories.

A small service to honor Barbara’s life will be held at 1:00pm on December 14, 2024, at the Watchmen Church, 758 Selkirk Avenue, Winnipeg.

Barbara’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. Her life was a testament to love, strength, and resilience, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
