LOIS JONES
March 9, 1941 - March 18, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Lois at age of 85.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Ron; her parents, Bert and Nesta Foord; her sisters, Ann Richards, Lynne; and Brother-in-law Doug Gagnon.
She is survived by her daughters, Lori, Kelli, Rhonda (Tim); son Christopher (Shelly); nine grandchildren - Amber Lee, Kristen (Marc), Ashleigh (Mike), Spyder, Kaitlyn, Chantelle (Jon), Cody (Claire), Julianna and Alyssa; nine great grandchildren - Victoria, Jeffrey, Bella, Bradley, Kenzi, Anna, Lucas, Emilia and Greyson; her youngest sister Judy; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Lois was born in Manson, MB in 1941. She was the second oldest of four girls. Her family moved to Brandon when her father started working for the CP Rail. Lois went to school, graduated and remained there until 1967. She decided to move to Winnipeg and that’s where she met Dad and got married.
They purchased a duplex in Elmwood and converted it into a single family dwelling with a lot of sweat and tears. She loved gardening and took courses on floral arrangement. She loved camping and we camped our way across Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Around that same time she was involved with Grey Street United Church, first as a Girl Guide leader and then as a member of the church choir. Over those years she made lifelong friendships and many memories.
She was a Mary Kay makeup consultant and was successful enough to win jewelry and even a trip to Dallas, Texas, but no pink Cadillac. She also worked at Sunbeam appliances in St. James for 12 years, working her way up to Assistant Mgr. In 1980 they bought some land and had a house built in Transcona where they resided until 1988. That was when, as empty nesters they decided to start their own appliance repair shop.
They’d had a trailer first, then a cottage in the Devils Gap, Lake of the Woods area for the previous 10 years, so Kenora was an obvious choice to start looking. They purchased an existing appliance store by the name of Campbell Bros. Dad became the Maytag man while she managed the store. They loved being together on the lake, sitting on the deck, watching the sunrise, drinking coffee and feeding the various birds, squirrels and foxes. But a cancer diagnosis came in 1995 for Dad and a few years later their dream ended. Mom was widowed at 56. They’d had 30 wonderful years of adventures together.
Mom returned to Brandon in 1997, to live and care for her dad. She was employed as a Nanny and continued doing that for three different families until her 75th Birthday. She collected, read and traded Nora Roberts books with her younger sisters Lynn and Judy, loved her yearly trips with family and looked forward to visits with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a wonderful connection with her great niece and nephew, twins Brock and Mckenna whom she shared a birthday with. She was passionate about the Foord and Price family history. She even travelled to England to find out more about our families and where they came from.
Covid arrived and it became obvious that it was now mom’s time to be cared for. Once again she returned to Winnipeg and moved in with her daughter Lori and her family. It gave her a chance to reconnect with old friends and make lots of great memories with family before dementia reared its ugly head. She moved into a small apartment in supportive living for a year and a half, before succumbing to a fall and being hospitalized. From there she was placed in long term care and remained until her passing. But right up until the end, she was still smiling. Mom was loved and will be greatly missed by all.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and she will be interred at a later date.
