DENNIS GORDON JUENKE

August 14, 1948 – July 18, 2021

On Sunday, July 18th, I lost the love of my life and my best friend Dennis whom passed away at the age of 72, after a valiant battle with cancer.

He was born in Golden Bay on August 14, 1948 to Ephraim and Elsie Juenke, the youngest of 5 children. He was predeceased by his parents; and by brothers, Ralph, Wilfred, & Raymond. He is survived by his sister Evelyn; wife Anne; children, Karen (Davis), and Kim (Kevin) & Jarrett; 5 grandchildren; 2 greatgrandchildren as well as numerous nieces & nephews.

He was employed with Conservation for a brief time, under an awesome boss & co-worker (like and Uncle) who encouraged him to follow his childhood dream of joining the R.C.M.P.

He was stationed at the Winnipeg International Airport, then transferred to Selkirk, Thompson, Grandview, Churchill and Headquarters (D Division Winnipeg). During these postings many memorable and lasting friend-ships were made.

As there will not be a formal celebration, in lieu of flowers if you so choose, you may donate to STARS Air Ambulance or to St. Boniface Foundation, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R2H 2A6.

Dennis’ family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

Eulogy by Ron Lyon

Dennis was my friend and like a brother to me.  He will be greatly missed.

Dennis was a great "partner in crime" in our years in Selkirk and remained a part of my life through all the moves North and South.  No matter where we were he was always willing to connect and help in any way.

In the early years we spent a lot of time after work with marathons of canasta, trapping and hunting, and camping in Bakers Narrows when Jarrett was a baby.  When we were trapping together the joke was we had to sell some furs to afford a trip to Bobo's for Chinese food.

In the last few years, we spent time talking about gardening and comparing successes and disasters while drinking coffee in his shop or on the phone and reminiscing about days gone by.

If I could have chosen my brother Dennis would have been at the top of my list.  Family was everything to him and we were all blessed to have known him.

Your incredible pain and suffering is now over, rest in peace my friend!

I Have a Place in Heaven

Please don't sing sad songs for me,
Forget your grief and fears,
For I am in a perfect place
Away from pain and tears.
It's far away from hunger
And hurt and want and pride,
I have a place in Heaven
With the Master at my side.
My life on earth was very good,
As earthly life can go,
But Paradise is so much more
Than anyone can know.
My heart is filled with happiness
And sweet rejoicing, too.
To walk with God is perfect peace,
A joy forever new.

Dad, you are SO very missed by a lot of people.  There are no words to descirbe how we feel but are relived you are at peace watching over us.  Fly free with the birds and butterflies.  We have seen so many since you left us and think of you especially when we see a Monarch of Finch.  Love you forever Dad!
