BRIAN JULIUS

July 27, 1936 - October. 23, 2023

Brian passed away peacefully, enjoying his Happy Hour glass of red wine. It was his favourite time of day It soothed the pain and suffering and boredom of heart failure 24/7.

He is survived by Liz, his wife of 61 years whom he met while both were in Naval Reserves at H.M.C.S. Chippawa, His 2 sons, Rick (Wpg./Thailand ) and Bunny his wife Kerry (Banff) and the lights of his life, his two beautiful and feisty granddaughters, Raina and Elora. Plus many nieces and nephews both in Wpg., Banff and elsewhere in Alberta. He loved his sons so much, and was so proud of all their accomplishments.

Brian led an active life enjoying many interests and activities. He always did the best he could do, no matter what it was. Working at MTS. and serving in the Reserve Navy, he retired from both at the age of 55. After that, he volunteered at a lot of different things, but mainly with the MTS Pioneers fixing talking books for the CNIB, and then for Victoria Lifeline. As well as enjoying curling, both ice and floor, golf fishing camping and cooking. And for the first 5 years he also kept the house and got the meals.

Then Liz retired and the pace picked up. Travel now was stepped up and enjoyed by both. He enjoyed their life in their home on S. Andrews Rd. for 47 yrs. Then Made a new life and friends in the new Apartment.

In short, Brian loved family, friends, music (as long as it was before 1950) and babies and toddlers and dogs. Rest in peace Darling. We will all miss you.

My sympathies to the Julius family. I was in the Chippawa Band with Chief Julius from 1975 until his retirement. He was a great sax player and became the band master in 1982. He was pleasant to be around and easy to work with. I missed him when he retired in 1986.

Sincerest condolences to Brian's wife, family and close friends. I knew Brian MANY years ago (the 1970s) when I enjoyed playing the trombone in the Chippawa band with him. He was not only a fine musician (probably the best in the band at that time), but was an even nicer human being. Despite a gap in age of nearly twenty years, he welcomed me at all times as if I were one his best friends. He had a great sense of humour, and I enjoyed every minute of my time spent with him (far too few). I remember him very fondly still - a fine fellow indeed!

We would like to offer our sincere condolences to Liz and family. Brian was a member of our wedding party and was a good friend. I worked at MTS with him and he was always easy going and a friend to everyone. We also had many a good time at Chippawa at the meat grabs. It is too bad that we had lost contact over the years when we moved outside of the city.

We offer our most sincere condolences at this time to Liz and all the family. I (Robin) have many good memories of my association with Brian.  The many parades in HMCS  Chippawa and on the street for special occasions.  There was curling with the Chippawa Club (sometimes with me), the CanMidWest excursions and also the Senior NCO'S bonspiels in Kenora. My wife and I really enjoyed the outings provided by the White Ensign club (Brian & Liz organizers), lunches or dinners at local restaurants, and corn roasts in the fall.  We will always keep these memories. Now he has crossed the bar.

My sincere condolences to Liz and all the family.  I always enjoyed floor curling with you and Brian and Brian was such a gentleman to play with. He will be missed. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal but love leaves memories  no one can steal.  May all your wonderful memories that you shared together somehow sustain you in your time of sorrow.
