MARTHA KARAGIANNIS

(née WOLLMANN)

Martha passed away peacefully at her home on May 29, 2023 at the young age of 68. Born in Springfield Manitoba, she moved to the big city of Winnipeg with her parents and 7 siblings at the age of 16.

Mom was a beacon of joy and kindness in the lives of all who knew her. Her love for her family knew no bounds and she dedicated her life to ensuring their happiness and wellbeing. Her unconditional love, playful personality, and unwavering support were a constant strength for her children, grandchildren, and siblings.

She will be remembered for her genuine smile and warm personality that had the ability to brighten anyone’s day. Mom was also an amazing cook. Her passion for cooking was evident in her mouth-watering family recipes, infused with love, creativity, and a touch of her own unique flair. She also had a passion for the game of bingo that was contagious. With an enthusiasm that was unmatched, she would eagerly gather with friends and family for countless evenings of laughter, excitement, and friendly competition.

Left to cherish her memories are her loving children, Tasia (Brant), Melina (Laszlo), Alex (Susan); grandchildren, Demetri, Andreas, Nikos, Alivia, and Zoe; siblings Ruben (Christine), Sam (Amy), and Bertha (Keith); as well as her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of 27 years, Barry Chapman; parents, Jacob and Barbara Wollmann; her brothers, Jake and John Wollmann; and her sisters, Marian Wollmann and Sarah Mains.

Let us celebrate the incredible life she lived and the profound impact she had on our lives. May her legacy live on through the meals we cook, the laughter we share, and the kindness we extend to others. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.

A private service was held on June 2, 2023. Our heartfelt thank-you goes out to the caring and compassionate staff at Brightwater Senior Living of Tuxedo. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.

I worked with your mother at Winnipeg Transit and she was such a joy to be around and work with.
