ALAN KAY

February 17, 1984 – July 12, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce that Alan unexpectedly passed away on July 12th, 2024 at the age of 40 years.

He is survived by his daughter Emily; his mother Corinna (Matt); siblings, Justen (Erika), Amanda (Chris), Steven, Jessica, and Eric; his nephews Jaxton, Brayden, and Asher; his nieces, Emma, Anastasia, Kaylee, Madison, and Scarlett; his best friend Tyler; many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, as well as his special companion Gus Gus the cat.

Alan was predeceased by his father Alan William Kay in 2015.

Ever since Alan was a little boy, he had a curious mind. Often we would find his toys taken apart because he wanted to see how they worked. He was a very active, outgoing and affectionate child.

Through his teen years and adulthood, Alan enjoyed singing and playing his guitar, writing lyrics, dirt biking, quadding, boxing and skateboarding. He was the true definition of a free spirit. He lived his life his way and on his own terms. He was kind, very generous and would give you the shirt off his back. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. His heart was pure gold. Alan’s humour was one of a kind, and the laughter he brought to our lives will be sorely missed. When he walked into a room, people were drawn to him and his gentle way. His smile was infectious. Quite simply, to know Alan was to love him.

“To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.”

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2024 at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road (Unitarian Church).

Alan’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

I met Alan in middle school and he was all about skate boarding and music. When I lost my parents house in 2018 he was the only person to help me move my stuff out and I truly appreciated it. Its sad to hear of his death last I heard he was at bhf and doing good may you rest in peace Alan thanks for all the wonderful memories i have of us. R.I.P ALAN TILL WE MEET AGAIN BROTHER

I send all of my love to all who have lost Alan in their lives. We grew up doing everything together. Skateboarding, riding bikes, getting up to mischief. May he rest easy, now. Love you, brother.

The first memory I have of Alan is the first time we met when I was probably 7 or 8 years old. He and his family came over to our house as our fathers were best friends our entire lives. I walked up to him and his siblings and handed them each one of those suckers from the 90's that were white, orange and green as an attempt to break the ice. Alan took the sucker but didn't want anything to do with me at first haha. That was short lived. Alan was always the kind of guy that kept you on your toes, brought laughs to the table and was unapologetically himself. Rest in Peace old friend.

Al was a part of my ceremony family over the past 2 years.. he shared his heart and laughter with everyone and was a great listener and support to so many! His light was infectious and he could always lighten the mood with a quick joke and a flash of that smile! He will be dearly missed by many. Fly with the eagles Al!🦅

Alan was a good friend during my time at BHF. He adored my daughter Ella and it meant a lot to both my partner and I that he was so good with her. Heartbroken to hear of his passing, but grateful that I got a chance to have him as a friend during a challenging time in my life!
