Betsy Keddie
ELIZABETH (BETSY) ALEXIS KEDDIE
July 22, 1941 - May 18, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law, cousin and friend Elizabeth (Betsy) Keddie (nee Bird).
Mom ("Nan") will be greatly missed by her son Greg (Jacquie); daughter Alison (Jeff Bodner); grandchildren, Justin Keddie and Anna Bodner; brother Frank (Shirley Bird); sisters-in-law, Diane Fleming and Ev Keddie; brother-in-law Andrew Keddie (Susan Berry); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Betsy was predeceased by her husband David Keddie; parents, Frank and Peggy Bird; parents-in-law Basil and Dorothy Keddie; sister Marnie Crumb; and brothers-in-law, Dave Crumb, Stephen Keddie, and Harvey Fleming.
Mom grew up in Wildwood Park and raised her family in Fort Garry. Over the years she made lifelong friends who she continued to enjoy time with on a regular basis whether it was pursuing shared hobbies or just enjoying coffee or dinner together. When her children were older, Betsy pursued a career in accounting and obtained her CGA designation in 1987; the majority of her accounting career was spent at Winnipeg Building and Decorating where she ultimately retired.
Mom was the matriarch of the family and her home was where we gathered to celebrate all of our family events and celebrations. Her door was always open and we all loved being able to drop in and spend time with her. "Nan's" greatest joy were her grandchildren (and honourary grandchildren) and she always looked forward to spending time with them and attending all their activities.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and doctors at Victoria Hospital and Health Sciences Centre for all their care and compassion.
There will be a Celebration of Life at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation or a charity of your choice.
