SHARON ELAINE KELLY

(née OLSON)

August 29, 1949 – September 30, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sharon.

Sharon is predeceased by her parents, Irene and Douglas. She leaves behind her children, Coleen (Duane) and Jason (Alison); sisters, Karen, Robyn, and Jayne; grandchildren, Riley, Kaitlyn, Logan, Juliette, and Miles; nephews and niece, Rob, Paul, Laura, and Anders; cousins, extended family, and lifelong friends.

Sharon’s greatest joy was her family. She adored Coleen, Jason, and their families. Her love for them was fierce, and every mention of her children brought a smile to her face. She was their biggest supporter, cheering them on through every challenge and triumph.

Sharon’s twin sister, Karen, has lost not only a sister but a lifelong best friend and crib partner. Their bond was like two pieces of a puzzle, and things will never feel quite the same without Sharon.

Sharon and Karen were the heart of their family, bringing people together for meals, card nights at the beach, or gatherings with friends. Sharon’s warmth made everyone feel welcome.

As a young single mother, Sharon worked hard to support her children, putting herself through nursing school. She enjoyed a fulfilling 33-year career at CancerCare Manitoba, where she built lasting friendships.

Sharon spent most of her summers at Victoria Beach, forming deep connections with the community there. She greeted everyone with a smile and loved spoiling any visiting dogs with treats. Her passion for animals was boundless, and she rescued many throughout her life. We imagine those animals are now joyfully reunited with her.

Sharon was also a food lover who enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with loved ones. Her famous carrot cake and chocolate zucchini cake were favorites.

Sharon’s absence leaves a profound loss in our lives. We’ll remember her in the small moments: a glass of wine with friends, a family meal, or the sight of a wild animal. She was kind, generous, and deeply loved. Her spirit will live on in our hearts.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 603 Wellington Crescent (First Universalist Unitarian Church). In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Winnipeg Humane Society or Black Bear Rescue Manitoba in her honour.

Sharon’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

It is with profound sadness that I read the passing of Sharon. I met Sharon and her sister Karen through a mutual friend in our high school years. Sharon was always a positive and loving friend who loved her family and friends fiercely.

Karen, I know you will miss Sharon deeply. My thoughts and sympathy

That picture of sharon is exactly how I remember Sharon. She always smiled at me in that lovely friendly way when I served her in records. Her sister Jayne was like that as well It must run in the family. They are such a unique family and that is what will get them through this sad time. Please accept my sympathy,

Karen, I'm so sorry to hear of Sharon's passing. I got to know both of you thru our dogs, your Annie and our Texas. Then to find out you knew my siblings. Really miss those days. I know Sharon will be a large void in your life. My deepest condolences to you, Karen (family) and Sharon's family. Thinking of you!

I am so very sorry to hear of Sharon's passing. She was a hardworking, lovely lady.; a great neighbor as we were growing up. Although we have not reconnected over the years as adults,

I fondly remember the time spent together at your hom

Colleen, Laurie Schmidt, Sherri & Jennifer Radford and myself playing setting together and at one time setting up your basement for a halloween party which your mother graciously allowed for the neighborhood children. We all had many good memories growing up with your mother as a part of them.

Thinking of you again at this very difficult time

I am very sad to hear of Sharon's passing. Sharon was one of the first nurses I met when I transferred to being a medical/radiation clinic nurse at Cancercare. I will always remember her kindness towards me and support during this time. She was such a lovely person. My condolences to your family Sharon.

Sharon and Karen took the time and effort to include me in many activities at the lake. They worked at the bakery and included me in my first poker game. Not sure how much help they were cause lost every hand however all these years later I still remember their kindness to a younger cousin by allowing me to tag along. I will remember her smile (best smile ever) and the twinkle in her eye. So sorry to hear of her passing My heart and prayers are with her family.

I was so saddened to hear of Sharon's passing. I will always remember how welcoming her and Karen were to us as teenagers and later as adults. My thoughts are with her family during this difficult time.
