DANIEL ALBERT KLUS

October 29, 1958 – December 24, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved brother, uncle, great uncle, cousin, and friend to many people.

Daniel (Danny) was predeceased by his mother Viola Marie Klus, and father Bohdan Klus. Left to mourn are his sister Lorna (Gord), brothers Keith (Theresa), Darrell (Pam), and Darren as well as many nephews, nieces and their children.

Danny also leaves to mourn his caregiver family Heather, Earl, Tim and Allyson and his former caregivers Edna and Daniel.

Danny was born in Winnipeg and raised in his home town of Fisher Branch. When Danny became school aged, he went to the Manitoba School for the Deaf in Winnipeg and would travel home by bus every weekend. During his school years Danny developed a love for independence, and also to make every minute with family count. After his graduation he continued to live in Winnipeg during the week and to return home on weekends to visit his family in Fisher Branch. This would be his routine his entire life until his father’s passing. Afterwards, he would visit family regularly. Danny did not contain his family devotion to immediate family. He also made great efforts to stay in touch with many extended family and friends by visiting, or on Facebook. He would check in on his many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends regularly.

He loved watching sports, and would utilize his great memory to relay all the box scores and stats from the games he watched the night before. Danny was a Jets season ticket holder since their return and was also an avid Bombers, and Goldeyes fan and would regularly attend their games. Danny also enjoyed visiting and just being out and about. He would often partake on long bike rides to visit family and friends, or to grab a hotdog in Lockport or just to grab a cup of coffee at Tim's. His independence, curiosity, and adventurous spirit were notable.

Danny lived his life with a positive attitude a strong work ethic, and a huge smile and joy for all that he met. His sense of humor and happiness when in the company of those he loved will not be forgotten. Danny’s laugh and positive attitude were contagious. One could not be in a bad mood with Danny around. He found purpose by working hard and being employed most of his adult life and overcame his disabilities to do so until he attained his well-earned retirement with GreyHound Bus Lines. Danny remained busy after retirement and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his coffee group, and attending his Equal Opportunities West programs.

Danny will be remembered for being a family leader, his huge heart, and his undeniable strength to overcome. He will be missed by all that knew him and remembered with love and reverence.

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Boniface Hospital for their compassionate and professional care of Danny in his final days. We would also like to thank his caregivers that opened their homes to Danny over his final years so that he could maintain his independence and community of friends.

As per Danny’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at 2:00pm on January 9, 2026, at 603 Wellington Crescent.

Condolences to the family.

I remember Danny used to take the bus with my brother Glen to the school for the deaf and every weekend they would be getting on or off. Him with a big smile and a wave carrying his suitcase. He always had a wave and a smile when he would see me in town. I am so happy to see he had a full life. Rest in peace

I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember Danny would come by to visit mom & dad at our house on Riel avenue. We would spend time writing back and forth with him, Danny was always upbeat and full of joy. Never complaining about anything. Just doing his thing, visiting people he knew and cared about.

Danny, may you rest in peace.

with love your cousin Lucille

Very sorry to see this news. I remember Danny from growing up years in Fisher Branch. I always admired how smart Danny was with numbers. He would always know which box #number belonged to who in the town. I was honored that he remembered me years later when he sent me a friend request on fb. My sincere condolences to his family. RIP my friend.
