BARBARA ELLEN KNIGHTS

(née Clark)

1947 - 2025

It is with great sadness we wish to announce the passing of Barbara Ellen Knights (née Clark) on May 4, 2025 at St. Boniface Hospital. Barb was surrounded by her family when she peacefully passed.

She was predeceased by her father William; and mother Margaret. She leaves to mourn her beloved husband of 56 years, William Douglas; her 3 children – Marion (Mark), Tracy (Trevor), and John; 7 grandchildren – Ryan (Katie), Rachel (Justin), Chelsea (Landon), Kurtis, Samantha, Vince and Abbey; and 2 great grandchildren – Ranin and Zai-anne; and her sister Sharon.

Barb was born in Winnipeg on July 30, 1947. Her early years were spent in Fort Rouge on Arnold Ave before moving to Transcona in 1958. Many happy summers from the early 50’s until the present were had at Grand Marais in our family cottage. Many fun, yet competitive games of crib and rummy were played. In July 1968, she married her soulmate, Doug. Together they raised 3 children enjoying summer camping trips with family friends. Every Sunday she made sure we all attended dinner at Grandma Margaret’s house. After many years in Winnipeg, they moved to an acreage just outside of Garson, MB.

After joining Sacred Heart of Jesus church, she became involved in volunteering and helping with many church needs and events. She loved the fellowship and sense of committee it brought. She was a very spiritual person, and we take comfort that she is with God and those who predeceased her in heaven.

Barb’s greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. Making sure everyone’s birthday or wedding anniversary was remembered and always a call. She often kept cards or drawing from the grandchildren, even carrying them in her purse everywhere she went years after she received them. Barb was loved by many as she was kind, generous, loving and accepting of everyone.

A mass service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday May 13th, 2025, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 18 Pine Ave, Garson, MB. Followed by refreshments at Garson Committee Centre, 11 Thompson Ave, Garson, MB at noon.

In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made in her name to Siloam Mission.

Barb’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
