Lucy Kolbauer

LUCY CATHERNE KOLBAUER
June 23, 1945 - March 20, 2026
It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.
Lucy Kolbauer passed away on March 20, 2026, at the age of 80 years. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 60 years, Bob Kolbauer.
She was born to parents, Elizabeth and Peter Shlanda. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Roland (Tracey) Kolbauer and Corina (Brad) Baker; and her grandchildren, AJ Ellis, Lhili Kolbauer, Luke Kolbauer, and Mara Berube.
She was predeceased by Marjorie Barker, John (Grace) Buhl, Glenn Buhl, and Shirley (Duke) Duch.
She is also survived by Henry (Wanda) Shlanda, Maybelle (John) Turesky, Fred (Gail) Shlanda, Richard (Leona) Shlanda, and Margaret Shlanda.
She will also be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends, including Alice Asselstine and Cindy Kretchmer, with whom she shared a 50-year friendship.
She was a devoted wife, caring for her husband with a love and dedication that was truly remarkable. They loved to dance and stole the floor at every family gathering. She looked forward to the many trips she would take with Dad, simple drives and getaways that she looked forward to with excitement. She would always say, “let’s just go drive.” They loved spending time together watching action movies and cheering on their favourite sports teams, especially the Jets. He was her rock, and she was his for 60 years.
She had a natural nurturing gift and devoted herself to raising her children. Her passion for caring for little ones extended into many years of babysitting, daycare work, and meaningful time spent with her grandchildren.
She would often say she didn’t want dogs, but “Brindle” and “Bandit” won her heart. She adored them and even took them on a long road trip to Vegas during her husband’s trucking trip, later laughing that she would never do it again.
She cherished time with her family during Christmas celebrations, summer gatherings, and memorable summer trips to Reddit, Ontario with her sisters and brothers.
She was a woman whose kindness touched everyone. She had a remarkable gift of connecting with people quickly and forming so many lasting friendships with neighbours and coworkers.
You will always be in our hearts, will be deeply missed, and will never be forgotten.
“WE LOVE YOU”

I have lived in the US now for almost 29 years and Auntie Lucy always paid that extra postage and mailed us a Christmas card. I akways thought that was so kind and thoughtful of her.
