ROBERT ANTHONY KOWALUK

November 16, 1949 - December 18, 2022

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of my best friend, my husband,  my back up, and my one and only love, Robert Kowaluk.

Predeceased by his parents Tony and Annie Kowaluk, he is survived by his wife of 51 plus years, Marilynn, sister Marlene Simmons (George) and family, brother Ken Kowaluk and family, Brothers in Law Duncan Wood (Terry) and family, Rick Wood (Dianne) and family, Sister in law / cousin Susan Nykoluk and family.

Bob was a kind quiet soul who would put himself out there for anybody who needed help. He grew up in Middlechurch Mb and graduated from Winnipeg General Hospital now HSC as a Registered X-Ray Technician in 1970 and after less than a year at the hospital moved over to the Cancer Foundation as a Radiation Protection Officer for the Province of MB. After 6 years on the job was promoted to Head Radiation Officer for the Province, a job which he enjoyed for 24 years. Then he decided to try his hand at other prospects and ended up totally enjoying his last working years driving for CTR Auto Parts.

He loved to take on projects both mechanically and around the house everything from tinkering with his vehicles to upholstery for family and friends and leather slipper making for his father-in-law. He loved to travel and was able to partake in a number of cruises and road trips around both Canada and the USA.

He became a Master Mason in Red River Lodge in 1989 and also joined Transcona and Beaver lodges before finding a home at Acacia Lodge. Moving on he became a Shriner in 1991 and enjoyed many years as a member of the Director’s Staff, Head of the Shrine Sunshine Sick and Visiting Committee but finding his true love with the Sports Car Unit with his little Olds Cutlass Supreme Convertible. He loved participating in the Parades and offering a ride to any of the Executive Officers who needed one.

He kept his illness quiet and fought to win over it for as long as he could so as not to alarm the family members, but unfortunately at the end he just couldn’t sustain the fight any longer and went in peace at the Health Sciences Center. Many thanks to the medical professionals at Cancer Care and HSC who helped Bob through his journey.

A graveside service and get together for family and friends will be scheduled for later on in the late spring or early summer...
