BONNEY JEAN KUCZER

(née BENTLEY)

January 21, 1952 - August 19, 2023

It is with profound sorrow to announce the passing of Bonney Kuczer.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Mike, furbaby Darci, father-in-law, Matt, sister-in-law Patty (Joe) and numerous close friends who were just like family.

Bonney and Mike met in January, 2002 on her 50th birthday at The Spike (a bar in Transcona).  There was an immediate attraction. Bonney was there with the sister (Sandy Higgs) of Mike’s friend Duane, who was a friend Bonney worked with at Walmart.  Mike and Bonney began dating and soon after Bonney moved in with Mike and sold her house.   They lived together for several years and on November 2, 2015, they were married in Las Vegas while there for the Sema show.   Jim Matthewman was the best man and Jim Jr. was the Father of the Bride and the Maid of Honour.

Mike loved mountain biking, so he bought Bonney a bike and she began riding also.  After a few years of going to bike races, Bonney got a new full suspension bike and she, too, started to race. Mike and Bonney travelled all over the province racing in places like Brandon, Swan River, Asessippi, Grand Beach, Falcon Lake, Roseisle and Morden. Bonney also won several Provincial medals include a Gold, which she was very proud of.

Bonney loved camping. Mike and Bonney started camping in a slide in truck camper and then eventually got a fifth wheel.  They camped the week of July 1st for several years with their friends from Portage La Prairie in Rushing River.  They also did a lot of camping with Duane, Charlene, Dave and Gail Purcell in Spruce Woods, Grand Beach and Birds Hill to name a few.  Her favourite spot was Lark 5 in Birds Hill where she would camp for a whole week and Mike would commute back and forth to work.

In 2015 Mike and Bonney joined the Corvette Club of Manitoba and another whole group of life long friends was formed.  Bonney loved going on the many dinner runs, spirited drives, and trips including The Black Hills, Wisconsin Dells, Bowling Green and Nashville.  Her last trip was to Calgary and Canmore.  She also loved to volunteer at the banquets and at autocross as the time keeper.  Bonney was a member of the Corvette Club executive.

Bonney shared Mike’s love of cars and loved going to car shows to look at the classic cars.  Her favourite show was the Back to the Fifties show in Minneapolis, where you would walk around the fairgrounds for 3 days and still not see all of the 12,000 cars.  She was very disappointed she had to miss this years’ show because she was starting Chemotherapy.

Bonney loved her paper crafts and was very talented.  She spent hours making cards, purses, gift bags, and even working candy machine cards.  She would go to craft sales with her friend Jane to sell their creations.

Also surviving Bonney are her children Steven, Jerry, Tammy, Connie, Rick and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

No words can ever express how much you will be missed.   Thank you for all that you brought to our lives.

Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of Bonney’s life will be held on August 30th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 32 Deerledge Trail, East St. Paul.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society.
