TOMASZ KUS

February 2, 1991 - August 29, 2020

Today the family announces the sudden but peaceful passing of Thomas Kus, at White Lake, Whiteshell Park, MB on Saturday August 29, 2020 at the age of 29.

Thomas was survived by his parents – Ziggy and Maggie Kus, his sister – Natalie Kus (Matthew), and nephew and niece – Nathan and Hannah.

Thomas was the eldest of 2 children, born in Winnipeg, MB. Although Thomas was born Canadian his Polish roots remained strong and fluent as he was born shortly after his parent’s immigration to Canada.  He spent most of his time in the city, while spending his summers at the family seasonal site at White Lake where he enjoyed camping, wakeboarding, mountain biking, and spending time with his family. In the winter he built jumps and rails to snowboard on at a nearby hill. He enjoyed many winter seasons snowboarding at Springhill Winter Sports Park.

Thomas spent his childhood years as an altar server for his local church St Gerard Parish. Him and his family volunteered and assisted the church after school hours and on weekends. In his pre-teen years Thomas began to show a passionate talent in music specifically, guitar. He played the guitar with ease and comfort. It was undeniably his way of expressing his unique self with pure joy on his face. After graduating highschool, Thomas attended the University of Winnipeg where he enrolled into the Criminal Justice Faculty. With all of his hard work, eagerness to learn, and dedication Thomas proudly completed nearly 5 years of his studies.

Thomas will always be remembered for his kind soul, gentle spirit and easy-going personality. He always had a unique sense of humor. He never judged anyone and welcomed everyone with open arms.

Thomas was a loving son, brother and a friend and will be deeply missed by all who had the incredible blessing of knowing him. Every day we will think of him and the wonderful memories he has given to us from laughing, tears, joy, and happiness. Thomas had the heart and courage of a lion and his soul will continue to live on strong with us all.

A private service will be held in Thomas' honor. Please take a moment to watch the memorial video above for Thomas, and please keep him in your prayers.

Dear Kus family. I sit in sadness and disbelief that Thomas is gone. I remember him as a quiet little fellow in Kindergarten and a very polite disposition. I still have memories of meeting Mrs. Kus in Supervalue and talking fondly about the Kus children. Hopefully your fond memories offer a small bit of consolation at this very sad time. Love and prayers always...Barb Potkonjak

Ziggy, Maggie and Natalie I am so sorry for your loss of Thomas. I will always cherish the many memories I have growing up with Natalie and Thomas at the lake. He was funny and kind, always up for a good time. Taking Natalie and I out on the boat, playing cards or just sitting by the fire. Definitely some great memories with Corey and Paul, always so many laughs. Thomas was almost like an older brother to me too and was always so nice to me. My heart brakes for your family, my deepest condolences. Sending all my love, Ashley

My memories of Thomas are very peaceful. It was always a matter of sitting at the lake, having easy conversations, A game of cards and plenty of laughter. There really was something so contagious about his laugh. I can say with confidence he was one of the most easy going, calming people to be around... I can remember joking with Natalie that I was going to marry him so we can become sisters. There’s no denying Thomas was handsome inside and out! I’m so sorry for your loss, my heart weighs heavy for you guys. His memory will always be bright in my books- they will never fade. Sending all my love from afar.
