IRENE LABELLE

(née JACKSON)

April 6, 1934 - March 18, 2022

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother at the age of 87.

Cherishing her memory is her loving Husband  of 67 years Rolly; children, Greg (Coleen), Michelle, Calvin (Delee), and Ken (Allison);  grandchildren, Kyle, Jordan, Aimee, Lane, Jory, Courtney, Marc, Lauren, Colton, Hailey, Damian and Dylan; great grandchild Melody; and her sister Shirley (John) from Utah.  She is also remembered by numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents William and Jesse Jackson; and brother Don.

Mom worked as a bookkeeper at numerous companies over the years and took pride in all the tasks she took on. While we kids were growing up she was a stay at home Mom during the day and worked in the evenings. She retired at 55 when Dad retired so they could travel and enjoy life.

Mom loved to stay active and busy by spending time with family and friends. She loved to play games, Golf, Line dance, and Aquacise. We had many great evenings playing games and laughing together as a family. Mom was an avid golfer and was happiest when her children and grandchildren joined her.

Mom enjoyed traveling and during their retirement they travelled across Canada and through the U.S. They also visited Cuba, Costa Rica and went on several cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean, and the Panama Canal.

She is already dearly missed by all of us. “No matter how much we say I love you, we always love you more than that.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the great care provided by the staff at St. Boniface Hospital.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on May 7, 2022 at 1090 Devonshire Drive West in the Common Room. In the meantime, Irene's family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

In lieu of flowers donations to Cancer Care would be appreciated.

Sincere condolences Uncle Rolly, Greg, Michelle, Calvin, Kenny and families.  Aunty Irene was such a vibrant, outgoing, friendly person who always welcomed everyone.  Was fortunate enough to golf with her and Uncle Rolly at Transcona some years ago.  She quickly told me I should push my golf cart - not "pull" it!    She will be dearly missed.

Sorry for your loss.  Irene was a fun lady. I recall as children on Humboldt St having fun playing cards & outdoor games. Don & my brother George were pals.  Irene will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Irene’s passing. I spoke with her twice in the last month and we had plans to get together for lunch.  It’s not the kind of news I was expecting to see in the paper regarding Irene’s obituary. My thoughts go out to you and your family. ❤
