RONALD “RON” ALEXANDER JOSEPH LACASSE

October 20, 1941 – December 28, 2024

After a short battle with cancer, Ron passed away peacefully on the afternoon of December 28th, 2024 at the St. Boniface Hospital.

Predeceased by his son, Perry; his father, Marius; mother MarieAnne; and brothers, Damien (Luke) and Alfred (Al); and nephew Clayton.

Ron leaves to remember him: his son Dean; his wife Alaina; sons, Austin and Craig; and daughter Eryn; his daughter Maxwelle; her husband Roberto; son Haden; and daughter Taylor; his sister Jeanne (Jake); sister Therese; brother Paul (Marie-Paul); sister Cecile; and brother Joe (Monique); many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Born in St. Pierre, MB, his parents eventually moved the family and settled for a time in St. Vital, and then Lorette, MB.

Ron endeavoured in many things in his lifetime. He would have said his most memorable being his times in the Inco mines up North.

Ron was a quick wit and took any opportunity to bring humor to a conversation.

The family would like to thank the many medical personnel who made this journey a little easier; and all the palliative staff at St. Boniface Hospital who were exceptional.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Cancer Care Manitoba or the St. Boniface Hospital.

In Accordance with their wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.

Ron’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Over the last 70 years. we have had many escapades, Traveling to Vancouver and working at Inco. We would call each other often to reminisce. Rest in peace old friend,

As he was two years older than me, it seemed like an unlikely think that Ron and I were buds back in grade school at St. Eugene. Then he left for high school somewhere and I went to St. Boniface College and, though I've been living in Lorette for 44 years, I never saw him again. I'd run into Luke, Al and Therese the odd time but never Ron. Too bad; it seems like he was a nice guy, from what I've heard.

My sympathies to Ron's family. I'll pray for him.

Well, I can say I didn't expect this. At least not so soon. I'm glad that we got the time we did and every memory will haunt me for the rest of my life. We did alot. Certainly had our ups and downs thru the last few years but you were never too far away. Glad we got to fish together a few times earlier this year finally, when you were strong enough. I'm so glad that I got to take you out on Father's Day this year for dinner at Jeffery's. It was a great evening. I wrote one of my most powerful songs for you and it means more now than it ever did before. Thanks for building me my Rockstar birdhouse. Its out in St. Laurent.

Thank you for all the time. Thank you for you just being you. I will see you again one day. I love you. Always. Lil Rock.

I always enjoyed my time spent with Uncle Ron. My fondest memory is the time when, at a very young age, he took me in his pickup to Lorrett to the local gas and grocery store. We jumped out of the truck and I processed to follow him up the stairs. He stoped mid flight, loked at me, and said in a stern but joking voice " well it's not going to fill itself, put only $10 in." He smiled and gave me that wink only he knew how to give. I abruptly turned around and did as I was told.

In that moment I felt like a man. Even if it was something as simple as putting gas in the tank he made my day and I will never forget it.

I truly miss you Uncle Ron

Ron always called on my birthday, we would bug each other and kid around about our ages as we got older. He had a great sense of humor and a wonderful laugh. He will be missed.

This is the last picture we took, showing sisters Jeanne, Terry and myself.

Ron is my son-in-law's (Dean) Dad. And he was a good friend of my husband's, Alan. When Ron lived in Lorette, he would share some of his garden produce with us.
