JAMES KENNETH LAMOUREUX

December 21, 1955 – November 16, 2021

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our loving father, James Kenneth Lamoureux on November 16, 2021, age 65, at the Grace Hospital.

He is survived by his three children, Tony Lamoureux (JoAnne), David Lamoureux (Kelly), and Nicole Fraik (Garry); grandchild Christopher; sisters, Gail and Donna (Marcel); as well as many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by parents Sidney Alcide and Rose Gladys; and his brother Rennie.

James was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba and then moved to Edmonton, Alberta in 1988-89. He had a career in a mechanical shop where he built radiators. James moved back to Winnipeg after many years where he decided to settle and plant his roots.

James had a passion in his younger years for fast cars and racing. He lived a fast lifestyle always enjoying life to the fullest. He made many friends in his travels no matter where he went.

James loved to poke and tease everyone near, he had a fun-loving heart, liked to keep things light and alive. He was always a joker and liked making people laugh. He was a wonderer at heart.

James always showed compassion and care for the people around him, lending them a hand whenever needed. He wasn’t a man who built who he was on material things he was known for his big heart and gentle soul. He had a fun-loving spirit and loved being outdoors hunting, fishing and golfing with his sons. He loved camping and made many memories out at English Brook. He taught the love of gardening to his daughter, although she can never keep a house plant alive, she has the green thumb for her vegetable garden like her dad.

James loved to get up, jump on his bike and do errands for anyone who needed help in his apartment block.

He had a fiery spirit even in his last moments making funny jokes to make us smile even in the toughest of times....it was his gift to us. He fought a hard fight to give us a few extra moments together.

He was very proud of us kids in everything we did and were just as proud of him for the love he gave us and everyone near. He was a kind soul that never wanted anything in return, just to make people happy.

James’ generosity and fun-loving spirit will forever be missed but never forgotten.

We would like to thank all the staff at the Grace Hospital for the extra moments we were able to share with our dad.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Winnipeg Harvest or Siloam Mission in James Honour.

James’ family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

We would like thank Dillon from Ethical Death Care for guiding us through these difficult times.

No Service will be held. An open house for a Celebration of Life in honour of James will be held on December 4th, 2021 between 1pm- 5pm at 34 Kinsbourne Green, South St.Vital.

My deepest sorrow to my 3 children , Gail, Donna , And family. After 23 years of marriage I have many memories he could make me mad, he could make me cry,  and he can make me laugh. One of the many memory I have that will always stand out was his love for cars.  In 1973 we purchased a Ford mustang and he dearly loved that car.  Two weeks went by  and he wanted to go fishing in Pinefalls Manitoba to show off his car to all his friends.  So we decided to go camping and make a weekend out of it so off we went after packing our tent supplies  but we did not bring any food because we were going to live off of the Fish he would  catch. We finally got to our destination  and we met a lot of our friends there. Now it was time to fish so down the banks we went and Jim was going for a beer run all of a sudden we heard a bang  he came running in a panic he had hit a car.  He wanted to get out of there immediately  so down the tent went with me inside he rolled up the tent and threw it in the trunk of the car and I was screaming and hollering off  we went with me in the trunk.  It seems like forever to get to the next destination.  I was terrified.  He popped open the trunk of the car with a beer in his hand and finally decided  to let me out. That is one weekend I will never forget  and I was mad as a Hatter  but I can laugh about it today. Rest in peace Jim you are free now you will never be forgotten   Rose

The first time I met Jim, he looked at me straight in the eye and asked me to take care of his son… I will continue to do so Jim! Jim so always touched my heart with his kindness and manners. I loved his little sneaky smile too when he teased people. He was sweet with a touch of mischievousness. I’ll miss you papa bear. ❤

Hi Gail.  I again just wanted to pass on my very sincere heart felt condolenses. It sounds like your pain is shared with many other people who knew your brother. After talking briefly with you about James, I too seem like I knew him. Keep your great memories close to your heart Gail and let time take away the pain you are feeling today.    Bruce S.   ❤❤❤
