BARBARA ELLEN LANG

(née DERKACH)

On May 18, 2023, Barb passed away at home with family by her side after a three-year battle with lung cancer.

She will be missed by her loving husband of 45 years, Rob, their two sons Dustin (Coral) and Clay (Jess), granddaughters Dylan and Brooklyn, sisters Pat and Veronica, and brothers Curtis and Glen.

She loved her children very much and it was important to her that she be able to stay home while they were young to raise them and be a big part of their lives. Barb loved hosting family dinners on Sunday nights which allowed the family to remain close and spend quality time with the grandchildren. She loved spending her summers at Ottermere, making many great memories with family and friends, and her winters driving from rink to rink to watch her granddaughters play hockey and ringette.

The family would like to thank the staff at Cancercare, as well as the palliative care team who helped care for her during the final weeks and allowed her to remain home.

Since Barb loved entertaining guests, a Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023 from 2pm to 6pm at Clay Lang’s residence. If needed, please contact a family member for the address.

Gone but not forgotten Barb will forever be in our hearts and we will all miss her very much.

Flowers gratefully declined. Donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba.

Barb’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

My sincerest condolences for your loss, Lang Family. When I moved to Winnipeg in 2008, I went through a hard time feeling super homesick and lonely. Your mom would reach out to me to make sure I was okay,  invited me to countless dinners and always told me to just bring myself, knowing the only food I had in my house at 24 was chicken fingers! Barb always made me feel welcome. She made me feel like I had a little family away from home, and when I met some of your friends and neighbours it seems like she was the kind of person who made everyone feel like they were a part of her family. I will always remember how good your mom was to me. Thinking of you all during this difficult time.  ❤  Slideshow is wonderful to watch, thanks for sharing.
